1180.0. "how hot is "hot"?" by WRKSYS::DEMERS () Wed Aug 03 1994 17:36
If my thermostat is set to open at 160, how much warmer can the engine get
before I should consider it as overheating?
At high speeds and pulling a skier or tuber, I notice that it sometimes creeps
up a bit (10-20 degrees) - never any higher unless I've picked up some crud on
the intake.
When I slow down or idle, it drops down nicely, sometimes even slightly below
160ish.
Pumps, hoses, etc. seem to be in working order. Water pump and outdrive pump
are have less than one season on them.
"Feature"???

| The thermostat is set to maintain a *minimum* temperature in the water
jacket - therefore you should expect a warmed-up temperature of at least
160. 10-20 degrees over the thermostat setting while operating under load
sounds perfectly reasonable...
