1159.0. "Removing Water Spots from Wood" by POBOX::GOODMAN () Mon Mar 21 1994 10:51

    What's good for removing water spots from varnished mahogany?
    Soap & water did'nt seem to help. I read an article in Boating that
    suggested using warm beer for spots; before I stock up on Miller's
    is there an alternative?

1159.1Wax would remove them SALEM::NORCROSS_WMon Mar 21 1994 12:469
    I've never had the problem. Are you sure you have varnish meant for
    this use? I used Helmsman Spar varnish (with UV protection) and it
    doesn't spot. Are you in salt or fresh water?
    You could wax over the varnish. I suppose somebody would cringe at the
    thought but as long as you aren't planning on entering a show or
    something, who cares? The water spots may still be there when they dry
    but they would rub out quickly.

    	Try Murphy's Oil Soap. Comes in a small plastic bottle.
