I haven't seen many notes on Starcraft boats, either fiberglass or aluminum. Any comments or comparisons with Glastrons, Bajas, Larsons, Thunderecraft? I might be trying to contrast grapes with grapefruits or watermellons, but it's just my newness to boating showing through. Thanks, Bruce

Any comments or comparisons with Glastrons, Bajas, Larsons, > Thunderecraft? I looked at them a few years ago, they seem to have a reasonable line of quite nice boats - though nothing much in the direction of my interests - "horses for courses" ? (-: Somewhere down Rte 126 just between Framingham and (I think) Ashland there is a dealer on the right as you head out of Framingham, I think the name begins with Fre... but I can't recall it right now; Fren* Reg | |||||
1130.2 | Starcraft -vs- SeaNymph? | CAPL::LANDRY_D | Warbirds 1939-1945 | Thu Dec 09 1993 11:59 | 23 |
Back in the early 70's when I worked in WFO a co-worker took me for a fishing trip on the Merrimack R. in his 19' Starcraft Aluminum center console. I think he had a 70hp but no sure. I went with him on about 15 fishing trips or so on his Starcraft. I liked it a lot but when my wife took me out to buy me a "canoe" for my Birthday Oct-91 we wound up with a great deal on a 19' SeaNymph Aluminum center console with 70hp Johnson. I like it a lot and it does well on the Merrimack and down the Cape and have taken it as far as 15miles offshore whale watching. I was only a passenger in the Starcraft but found it to be a good boat. One comment folks make figerglass vs aluminum is the light weight alum boats may bounce more in heavy seas. I normally avoid rough seas at all costs and like the less weight as I trailor the boat all season long. If a Starcraft dealer was near me when we went looking I wouldn't have hesitated a bit to get one if the "deal" was as good ;^) -< Tuna Tail >- aka Dick |
