| Thanks Bob. I'm looking for a 20 footer, Performance oriented but with
a small cuddy to satisfy the wife and kiddies. I believe Baja has a
model similar to this as I caught a glimpse of one on Sebago about a
week ago.

Just a fyi, around nov/dec time frame BAHA comes out with huge
incentives to buy, as a matter of fact a friend of mine just bought a
1993 285 flybridge weekender for $42,000.00 with swim platform and alot
of other goodies added for free.
this was bought in sandy creek New York but if the price they offer
cant be beat then its worth the trip/(s) to purchase it, and this guy
is from around springfield Ma.
If you want I will get the mane and # of the marina.

Lee,
Are you talking about BAHA or Baja. These are two different boat
manufactures. Baja builds performance boats, which I believe BAHA
builds medium sized family boats..

Al,
The BAJA dealer I was talking about is BOAT WORLD 2057 West Shore Rd,
Warwick, RI. 1-800-383-2629.
They are having what they call a "FACTORY UN-AUTHORIZED BLOW-OUT SALE".
Good Luck,
Bob

| Thanks Bob. I plan on visiting these folks within the next week or so.
I'm particularly interested in how baja stacks up against Wellcraft in
terms of price/quality.

That's an interesting comparison. Boat for boat, I would probably lean
toward the Baja. They have come a long way in the past few years.....
As far as price goes, I would say you may have better luck with Baja as
well. I have some friends that have purchased Baja's and they have
received some great deals. The big think here is who's the dealer and
how many boats does he sell and how is his service?....

1084.8 | Seem a little pricey | BUSY::BOUSQUET | | Tue Aug 10 1993 13:57 | 12 |
| I did get a chance to visit Boat World. They're a relativeley small
BAJA/Bayliner dealer. The Sales people were very personable. They bent
over backwards to accomodate us.
The model BAJA I'm interested in is the new 22 Caliber Twilight
Cruiser. They quoted me a price of 30K with the 7.4L and trailer, 28K
with the 350 Mag. I thought this was interesting since I had just received
a quote of $34K on a 1993 Cobolt Condurre with the 7.4L engine and trailer.
I believe this was the Mfg suggested retail price and the Cobolt dealer was
willing to talk immediately.

Sounds like you should do some price shopping. Try Channel Marine in
Laconia, N.H. They are a fairly large size dealer of Baja and Century
boats. I've been there many times. This is the dealer where my friends
have purchased their Baja boats.
There is also a big price factor to you when a dealer has the boat in
stock vs. not having it in stock.
Maybe it's worth a call to Baja boats and get a listing of dealerships
in the area that you reside in. I've done this in the past with other
boat mfgr's.

| I believe there's another BAJA dealer in the Webster lake area. I'll
try them. Also, I'm sure the prices I was quoted were MFG suggested
retail. If I can get them down 10 or 20 percent.....

From what I know and have seen happen with friends, 15-20% is do-able
at this time of thew year. sometimes even better if they have any
leftover units. The new model year stuff comes out just about this time
of the year.

Al,
Give Stewert Brown (@ Brown Auto and Marine in Newport NH - sorry
don't have the phone number) a call. Let him know that you are friends
with Rick Suter or myself - he should be able to take care of you..
I've had my Baja since the summer of 87 and still love it!
Stewert handles northwest NH and Vermont. He's been selling Baja's
for about 10 years, and he's a really nice guy.
So give him a call..

Al,
Just a note to let you know that BOAT WORLD has an ad in the WANT
ADVERTIZER displaying a "blowout" on BAJAs. One of the boats is a 1993
235 Family Sport, 350 Merc powered with extras for $27,500!!!!!
That I believe is a good price........
