I HAVE AM ENQUIRY ABOUT RE-GLUING VINYL COVERED SEATS TO A FIBERGLASS HULL. WOULD USING AN EPOXY TYPE ADHESIVE DO THE JOB OR DOES SOMEBODY KNOW OF ANOTHER KIND OF ADHESIVE THAT WILL KEEP THE SEATS STUCK DOWN. ALSO DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR AN OLDER MERCURY 50 HP(GENERAL TIPS). COULD I PULL UP A SKIER WITH THE 50HP ON A 16FT FIBERGLASS. THE ONLY INSIGNIA ON THE BOAT IS A SCORPIO EMBLEM ON THE FRONT, DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE MANUFACTURER?

As far as regluing you have many choices to choose from, Hot Glue, or if you went to most automotive paint supply store they should have different products available. Also have you tried calling an upholstry shop to see what they could reccomend?

Usually for multiple questions or subjects, we try to break them up and keep each one in the appropriate topic. 1) I HAVE AM ENQUIRY ABOUT RE-GLUING VINYL COVERED SEATS TO A FIBERGLASS HULL. WOULD USING AN EPOXY TYPE ADHESIVE DO THE JOB OR DOES SOMEBODY KNOW OF ANOTHER KIND OF ADHESIVE THAT WILL KEEP THE SEATS STUCK DOWN. Seats are normally secured to the floor with lag bolts or heavy duty brass or stainless wood screws. I've never heard of anyone glueing them down. 2) ALSO DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR AN OLDER MERCURY 50 HP(GENERAL TIPS). For more info on outboard maintenance, type "DIR/TITLE=OUTBOARD". There are several existing topics on outboard maintenance and repairs. Note 83 might be a good place to start. 3) COULD I PULL UP A SKIER WITH THE 50HP ON A 16FT FIBERGLASS. Normally yes, if everything is in good running order and the weight of passengers and skier is kept to a minimum. Skiers will need to start on two skis, forget pulling up a slalom skier. For more info on skiing, type "DIR/TITLE=SKI". 4) THE ONLY INSIGNIA ON THE BOAT IS A SCORPIO EMBLEM ON THE FRONT, DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE MANUFACTURER? Never heard of the them. I'd have to say they're out of business. Which doesn't matter at all as far as servicing the boat, nearly every piece of hardware used on a boat is available from aftermarket sources. Rick

Rick, I think the reference to gluing the seats are the front pads in a bow rider. I had the same first thoughts as you. .0 If thats the case then I would say use velcro. They must have velcro with a sticky side that can be put on the boat and sew in the other half to the seat. That should help keep the seat in place and still be able to remove it easily. Wayne |
