    on the new submersible neon light kits for boats?

    Will anybody tell us what these things are?!?!?

    Sounds like a great below-the-keel visual index for night diving, if
    it's what it sounds like to my one-track mind.

    re: .1
    If the neon lights for boats are anything like what I saw on
    the undercarriages of some of the cars down in FL, I don't
    think they're intended to help with night diving. Not the
    underwater kind, anyway...

    Wonder if neon would go well with a 40 year old boat?

1049.3Someone had to...!KAHALA::SUTERNever too Hot!Thu Mar 25 1993 09:5111

    Gee, Rick you had to travel all the way to FLA to see cars with
    neon undercarriage jobs? Hmmm.. I see 'em all the time... hmmmm...

    Yup, it's the same idea, only this time for boats.... The only
    place I can think of to "safely" mount any of these underwater
    neon lights would be under the swim platform on the transom.

1049.4Neon submersible trailer lights...MR4DEC::FBUTLERThu Apr 01 1993 10:4015

    While going through a newly acquired magazine (don't remember the name,
    but I still have it at home...) I saw an add for a "Brand new, NEON
    trailer light kit"...it was billed as being the "latest innovation" to
    aid in loading your boat back on the trailer...looked like it was set
    up to give your trailer that glow in the dark look whilst being
    submerged at night. I didn't remember seeing any thing like this in
    other trips through mag's over the past summer...and it's quite a ways
    down on the list of spring purchases, like at the bottom...

1049.6Buck catchers maybe?MR4DEC::FBUTLERWed Apr 07 1993 08:489
    Apparently they define the "LZ" for the boat...? Looked to me like one
    more pretty much useless gadget attempting to pry the already to few
    dollars out of my back pocket. The add had a real "Be the first one on
    your block..." slant to it. But then again, I'm pretty new to the
    whole power boat/trailer scene, so what do I know? I've loaded several
    times at night, and the normal backup/brake/turn/park light assemblies
    on my trailer already gave me a pretty good idea of where the trailer
    was...

1049.7Trailer loading guides would be cheaperSALEM::NORCROSS_WWed Apr 07 1993 10:436
    I wouldn't doubt that it would be cheaper to install trailer loading
    guides (the poles that attach to the trailer frame and center the boat
    to the trailer) rather than neon lights. They would certainly be more
    reliable and last longer. If you really want lights, they have light
    kits for the top of the trailer loading guides.

1049.8UselessSALEM::GILMANThu Apr 08 1993 13:185
    Yeah, I have always been able to find my trailer by the brake/running
    lights too, (smile). More lights underwater? Just more electrical
    stuff to have problems with... useless if you ask me.
