I'mm not really sure what type of advice you're looking for, as this is pretty much a straightforward deal. You need to somehow get the most for your 25 footer, and buy the 19 footer as cheaply as possible. Simple, right? 8^) You've probably got a few options. 1) Trade the 25' in at a dealer on a 19' boat. This is probably your worst option, about like trading in a Cadillac on a Hyundai. There's not that much markup in the smaller boats, so a dealer is probably going to give you wholesale at best for your boat. 2) Sell the boat outright, for as much as you can get, then go shopping for the 19' boat that you want. If you've got cash or pre-arranged financing in hand and are ready to buy, you can get some pretty good deals. 3) When you advertise your boat for sale, also mention that you'll take trades on a 19' boat. Ideally, you'll find someone with a nice 19' boat who's ready to trade up, and will probably be willing to throw in some cash to sweeten the deal. Hope this helps... Rick

Re-enforcing what Rick said... Don't even *think* about linking the sale and purchase transactions together unless you do it with a private party who is looking to trade up and you potentially have a mutually beneficial situation.... If this is a no-no when selling a car, it's a NO-NO-NO-NO when selling a boat, where the established standards for pricing used boats are so random, dealers seem to always be able to make a case for how your old boat is only worth a buck-two-eighty.
