    I am looking for a bassboat/trailer for the Quabbin.

    I need to seat four, according to Quabbin reg.'s the boat has to be
    larger than 14'. I'm also looking for 20HP.

    Please mail MCIS5::KOBYLARZ

Is this true? I thought the size limit was 12' ? Does anyone have the current
regulations for Quabbin?

    You may get an answer to your question here, but also check the
    WAHOO::FISHING-V2 conference.

    I had stopped at Gauch Bro.'s in Shrewsbury the other day and was given
    a sheet of Quabbin reg.'s. The sheet also states that the maximum HP
    allowed is 20HP or half the power rating of the boat, whichever is
    smaller.

    I cannot tell you whether this sheet of reg.'s is official or a "sales
    tool" to upsell the size of boat.

    re: last few

    I can't verify this but last year I was at a State Run lake and
    had my 19' Sea Nymph 70hp Johnson on it and was told I needed to
    get a permit. I asked about the Quabbin and they said the restrictions
    is on the motor and not the boat length. If I took my boat on it
    with a 20hp kicker motor then I could. I would have to remove the
    prop from the 70hp to be allowed on the lake.

    	Quickie Quabbin Regs.... To the best of my knowledge...

    	HP restriction is 1/2 the BIA rating of the boat or 20hp Max...
    Whichever is LESS. They -will- make you remove the prop on a larger
    motor.

    	Boat size. Minimum of 12ft. Canoes and small flatbottoms (punts,
    duckboats, whatever you want to call them) are restricted to the
    Pottapaug Pond section at Gate 43 (Fishing area #3 in Hardwick).
    I -think- there are limits on number of persons on board so you may
    be restricted to 3 in a 12ft or 4 in a 14ft. Their rental boats are
    14ft. and are restricted to 4 persons.

    	For the final word on this subject call the MDC at Quabbin at
    413-784-1249.

    I read the reg.'s sheet again last night.

    Boat: 12ft minimum

    Limited to 3 people under 14'6". Above 14'6" 4 person max.

    Previous notes have the HP issue correct. 1/2 BIA or 20 HP, whichever
    is less.
