1040.0. "Marina on-land and rack storage" by SNAX::NERKER () Tue Feb 09 1993 13:21

Does anyone know a ball park figure on what the marina gets to store a
boat on the Merrimack on land for a season? ITs the one that stores the
boats on your own trailer not too far down from the chain bridge on the
    Merrimac.
Its the 110 exist on Rt 495. I wish i knew the name, but cant remember.
Looking to see if this a more viable alternative to trailering this
    year.

I believe that it's 3R marina, at leat it was last year. I heard that they went
belly up and the bank had taken them over.

Last year they charged me twice once on the launch in May and once on the way out
in Oct. I didn't have my receipt so had no recourse. This was the second year
in a row. This coming season I use the ramp at Cashman park.

The ramp at 3R is a nice ramp, probably the best in Newburyport. Maybe there
will be some responsible new owners this year.

re:-1 and .0

R U talking about the one (can't remember name) that's
on Rt-110 going East right after the I-95 overpass?
It's opposite corner from a Shopping Mall.
If so this is not 3R Marina which do have a great ramp.

Ray Moulton owns this one and he/his wife Kay own Surfland Bait & Tackle
right on Plum Island. Sorry I don't have the phone # with me.

    mod hat on..

There are several topics here that discuss various marinas
and slip fees, but nothing that quite covers the question
of storage on land. I couldn't find anything on "rack" storage
either, so I've changed the title of the base note to include
rack storage. Any discussion of dry land or rack storage at
    marinas can go here.

Thanks Rick for asking the question again....and editing the title...
I did get some help from some folks directly by phone and mail.
The establishment (was) called 3R marina, but has gone belly up
and is now taken over by a bank. This was verified by calling Merimer
marine right next store. They said 3 or 4 places have changed hands up
there or have gone under. The only piece of info I have so far is that
they (Merimer) would store your trailer for about 300.00 a season but cannot
provide ramp access unlike 3R could.
Brian Shaw from DEC was kind enough to provide me with several other
near by Marinas..and i will check a few of them out for the service
3R was providing/ and or wait to see if 3R opens up under new
    mngmnt....

I only knew the marinas, because a good friend lets me occasionally fish/dive
from his boat and it isn't tough to get to know what exists in a town as
"compact" as Newburyport!

1040.6Rack Storage in York MaineHDECAD::DREWMon Feb 15 1993 12:557
If you don't mind traveling a little more north, Yorh Harbor Marine
has rack storage. They store the boat in an enclosed rack, When you
want to use the boat you call them and they put the boat in the water
and tie it up to a special section of their dock. The fee is $40 a
foot, not cheap but less than a slip ($88 a foot).

1040.8More on Newburyport storage... IBR2::AUGERWed Feb 17 1993 12:5015
Carr Island Marine (New name for Yankee Marina which is under new mgmt)
has always had on-land boat trailer storage in previous years. Not sure if
they'll continue with it this season or not. Their new phone number is 465-6565.
This also included ramp access. The ramp there isn't as good as the one at 3R
but it is usuable. It can be difficult to get the boat in and out at low tide
especially if you have a heavy boat or don't have a 4x4.

City Boat Works or perhaps it's now just City Boat or Boatworks (which
is just down river from 3R Marina) also has rack storage and a ramp. I can't
say much more about them other then I know they put the rack building up a few
years ago. I don't know what the ramp there is like or if they have on-land
trailer storage. I don't have a phone number for them but I'm sure they're
listed in the book.

Hi, I am looking for any suggestions you may have in regards
to seasonal boat storage on/around Lake Winnipesaukee.

In the past I have rented a slip at Lakeport Marine for my 20' Cobalt.
This has worked out well as it is the Southern part of the lake,
actually Paugus Bay, and I am travelling from Worcester Ma. Boat
traffic is heavier but after driving 120 miles you want to get on the
water as soon as you can.

With prices increasing every year, $1300 this season, I am
looking for some options. Although I would rather stay on the
water I am open to storing the boat inland. Rack storage is certainly
an alternative as the ride from home to the lake should leave plenty
of time to call ahead and have the boat in the water by the time I arrive.

I am also open to any suggestions you may have about areas
closer to home, although I must admit I have been spoiled by the
clean water and surroundings of the Lakes Region. Lake Quinsigamond
just doesn't cut it after boating in New Hampshire.

Any suggestions/prices you have would be appreciated.
