You may pay a little more (at least we do here in Canada for new ones) but you get what you pay for. If you have a chance at a used one GO FOR IT. These puppys do not compare to the big three U.S. Manu. THEY'RE BETTER. --> Of note - cut the muffler pipe (shorten) and this baby will get you above 10.5 hp. Enough of my 2 cents. Martin | |||||

While I do not own a boat/motor I am repairing my B-I-L's motor. It's a Yamaha 6hp and before it inhaled some of the local lake water ran great. If I was to have the oportunity to buy one I would. Oh yea, on the repairs... Seems that the crank and #1 piston pin both bent to the tune of ~$325. (one piece crank asy. w/bearings, ouch!). The engine is a dream to work on and seems to be over built. Total time to tear down was 1hr. I am interested in the hint on the mufler pipe. It would be nice to give it back a little stronger than before. Any hints? -Richard |
