A friend of mine is interested in buying a boat for scuba diving. He looked at a 31' Jersey and really like the boat. He is unfamilar with the make of boat and would like information regarding them. Anyone familar with them? How do they compare to a Bertram (need I ask)? Thanks, Pat

31 Jersey for diving, such a waste.....this is a sportfisherman in the same sense of Ocean Yachts and Bertam. Not sure of the exact ranking but a top notch boat. Bruce

One interesting note about the Jersey...it's a single screw. With a boat this size, wouldn't it be better to have two engines? I guess I'm a little leary about the wear-and-tear on a single engine with a boat of this size. Should I be concerned with this? Pat

The difference between a "fisherman" and a "sportfisherman" seems to be hundreds of horsepower. Interesting that many commercial fishing vessels of this size or even bigger have a single small diesel which are generally very reliable and very good on fuel. Whereas your typical sportfisherman has lots of power (to get out to the fish and back to the office in short order :-), and twin engines (for reliability of uninterrupted recreation, or is it reliability to get back to the office collect those big patients' fees :-) |
