984.0. "1984 Sea Ox 200c" by TOPTEN::GODFREY () Tue May 26 1992 18:02

    I'm looking at buying a 1984 Sea Ox. The boat is a 20ft walkaround
    with a 1990 135 Merc. The motor was bought in 91. The hull looks
    to be in good shape and the motor is spotless. Does anyone have
    any experiences/opinions about Sea Ox. The seller is asking 10k.

    Thanks,
    Larry

984.1Thumbs up on Sea OxLEVERS::SWEETMon Jun 01 1992 14:175
    Everything I have heard about Sea Ox is good. It is a very heavy
    and solid hull. They are similar to Grady White in design and lay
    out.

984.2Another Sea Ox fan....SUBPAC::CRONINMon Jun 01 1992 17:409
    	My father has an ~84-86 Sea Ox 20 ft. CC that I've spent a LOT of
    time in. I think it's a great boat, and as Bruce said, heavy and
    solid. Never any feeling of flex or shudder in the hull even in REAL
    rough seas. The 135 should be good power for it also, my father has a
    90 on his and it's slow getting up on plane but will still do 30+ with
    no problem. I put a Doel Fin on it last year for him and it does get
    up quicker now AND he says it helped the rough water handling a lot.

984.4How about Sea-Ox??CACHE::KLAUZINSKIFri Aug 05 1994 15:3611
	And the boat search goes on...

	Anyone ever ridden in a 20' Sea Ox??? I'm looking at a 1982 cc with a
	1991 evinrude 150. The Sea Ox boats I've seen in the past look pretty
	sturdy. However a suspicious source told me they really "pound" and
	will be annoying after awhile.

	Can anyone comment....

	Thanks again in advance.
984.5look for a deep vBLUEFN::GORDONMon Aug 08 1994 12:3811
If you want to lessen the "pounding" look for a deep V design 20 degree or
greater. My 25' Bayliner trophy has a 20 degree deadrise at the transom and
can comfortably run 25 mph in a 2-3 foot chop. My other boat had a modified
V design and my knees knew it in a 2 ft chop.

There are many new hull designs out there. If you're looking for a center
console; have you looked at the Sea Cat made by Sea ox? According to the
literature, it refuses to pound in any sea, is cheap to run (twin 90 hp max)
and runs fast.
