878.1 | CHAPARRAL = QUALITY | RCODLF::FRASCH | | Thu Jul 18 1991 11:59 | 13 |
| Al,
I have an '82 model 194-V that I bought new with a 120
Mercruiser I/O. The boat is every bit as good today as
it was then. ZERO Defects, and solid as hell.
Chaparral is right there with SeaRay and Wellcraft,
might be a notch above. Obviously, I'm very pleased with
mine!
Good luck,
Don

| Thanks for the input Don. Even thought I've seen a lot of older boats
on the water I haven't heard much about them. Especially their SL
series boats.

| The July issue of Trailer Boats is the 20th anniversary issue. They have some
good things to say about Chaparral. In addition to the anniversary comments
about the company, they also have an article on a new model from Chaparral.

878.4 | CHAPARRAL = GREAT | SWAM2::KLINE_ST | | Tue Jul 30 1991 19:53 | 14 |
| i bought a new 1991 2000Sl in january. i have the volvo 205hp v-6 with
the duo-prop i/o. this boat is great. i have had 5 other boats and
this is the best. this thing will hole shot like nothing else. plus i
spent three days at the colorado river at needles, ca. and lake havasu,
az. and only used i tank of gas (holds 41 gal). the big block jets use
150-200 gallons. i paid less than the comparable sea rea (seville=
$18,900) and it is a better looking and better quality boat. i got the
boat and dual axle trailer for $17.2k. the v-6 has a 4 bbl. carb with
electronic ignition and 5 more horsepower than the 5.0l chev v-8. also,
weighs a lot less than the v-8. the boat weighs 2650 lbs. which is a
good weight for a 20 footer. i reccommend that you highly consider the
chaparral.

| Thanks for the input Steve. This information is exactly what I'm
looking for! I've been giving serious consideration to the 2050SL
with the 260 merc. Other boats I'm considering looking at are the
Wellcraft Eclipses (If they're still around) and Four Winns
(Sundowners) as a basis for comparison.
