864.0. "Is there a DEC Ski Club?" by KITS::ZEREGA () Fri Jun 21 1991 10:02

Can someone give me some info about the DEC water ski club, I
think they ski on lake boon in Hudson Ma. Any info would be
      appreciated.

PS If this is not the right conference can someone point
me in the right direction, thanks.

    Al,

You're in the right conference for the question, but personally
I've never heard of a Dec water ski club.... Is there one that *we*
    didn't know about?

      Hi Rick,

I recently purchased a home on lake boon in Hudson Ma,and
from my porch I watch 6-15 people water skiing almost every
night. They ski behind a ski nautique, one of two boats that
are on there dock. Last night a neighbor said that the group
of people were from the DEC ski club and that they meet every
thuresday after work, but as I mention theres a group there
             just about every night.

                                                                  AL:

Hi Al...

There's no "official" DEC water ski club that I'm aware of. There could very
well be a group of DECies that skis on your lake, but I'm not aware of any
organized group of water skiers from DEC that call themselves the "DEC Water Ski
Club" or some variation of that title. 'Course that doesn't mean it isn't a
good idea. It's been kicked around a few times in this conference...

...Roger...

P.S. I searched the network notes conference listing (dated 21-JUN-1991) for
anything with "water", "H2O", and "ski" in the title (did I miss any?) and
came up empty, so I assume this is the only place water skiing is
      discussed to any great extent.

	Hi Al,

I checked into it about 18 months ago; there wasn't one then.
I went through some of the formalities with the employee activities
folks; but having seen amount of work needed to run the dec bicycle
club, and its collapse when nobody stepped up to give Kathy a much
deserved rest, I wasn't enthusiastic enough to see it through.
I suppose I could get fired up again if, for example, there was a
suitable piece of water on dec's property somewhere close by that we
could get exclusive use of - - FORGET THE MILL POND !

Why not stand out on your dock some time with a ski in your
hand and wave those guys down ? Let us know what the deal is, we
might want in. Lake Boone is fairly close to me....

	Reg

864.5Maybe they can cross-charge your cost center for the gas! :-)ROGER::GAUDETNothing unreal existsMon Jun 24 1991 18:005
Hey Al...maybe if you stand on your dock as Reg suggested, with ski in hand,
waving your badge, they'll swing by and give you a tow! Nah...forget the
badge... :-)

My brother and I recently purchased a boat and we ski on Lake Boon (he has a
house on the lake). It's a white Four Winns and we're out frequently - give
us a holler and a wave!
