842.0. "Sea Sprite Boat Co. vs Larson" by VTSALE::SLATTERY (Erin Slattery 266-4932) Tue May 28 1991 00:12

Has anyone any information and/or experience on Sea Sprite or
Cheetah boats? They are manufactured by the Sea Sprite Boat Co.
in Illinois. I'm looking at a 19' Cheetah with a 175 Merc. engine.

     I'm also looking at a used (1988) 19' Larson with a 165 Merc. The
used Larson is about the same price as the new Cheetah ($700 less).
I was able to take the Larson out on the lake and really liked the
way it comes "out of the hole" : planes almost immediately. Any
advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with the larson! I am a previous owner of a 1986 Larson
V-165 Closed bow with the V-hull design. I really liked how the boats
were put together How they looked and how they rode. The boat you
described sounds like it has there Delta Cronic hull design which In
my oppinion makes the boat more stable. I have rode in both boats and
I think the larson takes it.

This really isn't the info you asked for,but the Larson should be
a good boat. You even got to try it and like it.What I put this reply
in for was to mention that you might be able to get the Larson for
more than seven hundred dollars less.I obviously don't have all
the details, but given the current economy you could perhaps negotiate
on the price of the Larson and come up with a great deal if you
haven't tried that already. It's a buyers market and then some.
