837.0. "Need some info on Tohatsu outboards" by HYEND::POPIENIUCK () Mon May 13 1991 10:52

    Moderator, please move this if necessary. Thanks.

    I'm looking to buy a new prop for my 3.5 HP Tohatsu outboard. The
    motor is about 4 or 5 years old. I don't know where to find/buy the
    prop and need one quickly.

    I seem to remember seeing that Tohatsu motors are the same as the
    smaller Mercury's. True? If so, where might the nearest dealer of
    Mercurys be to Hudson or Marlboro?

    Thanks in advance.

    Pete

837.1Most delers can get Michigan Props!MR4DEC::DCADMUSMon May 13 1991 11:577

    Most outboard dealers can get Michigan propellors. Michigan is
    probably the primary supplier of props in the US for all makes
    of motors.I'd get on the phone after checking the yellow pages.

    The nearest Merc dealer I know of is US Marine in Shrewbury.

    Hi Pete, did you trash the prop on the Tohastsu I sold you????

    (Seriously, I hope it's running well).

    fwiw, I bought the engine at Sheepscot Bay Boat Co in Five Islands, ME.

    That's probably not in your neighborhood, but you could call them and
    maybe get more info on who carries parts.

    btw, the motor is 3 years old.

837.3One-bladed Tohatsu's make good fish lures!HYEND::POPIENIUCKMon May 13 1991 14:0013
    Yup, one in the same motor. Knocked a blade off while launching into a
    small pond in Maine. Gee it made funny vibrations with only one blade
    instead of two ;^) But at least we were fishing. Got some nice salmon
    and lake trout. Maybe the fish were attracted to the vibrations. Hey,
    maybe I should keep it with one blade! Seriously, we were just
    trolling very slowly, so I don't think we hurt anything by using it
    that way for a short time.

    The motor has served me well so far. I use it as a trolling motor on
    my boat and also use it on a side mount with my canoe.

837.5Bert's in Pepperell MassAKO539::KALINOWSKIFri Aug 06 1993 15:308
    Bert's Sport & Tackle Shop sells and services Tohatsu's. Really nice
    gentleman and his wife. It is right across from the Buick/GEO
    dealership on Rt 119.

837.6Could it be Rt 111?SALEM::NORCROSS_WMon Aug 09 1993 16:353
    I believe that the route is Rt 111 there. Rt 119 also goes thru
    Pepperell but at the other end of town.
