close together in time and place. Given time to go to one, which
should I pick?

777.7 | which show - for a deal on skis ? | REGENT::BENDEL | | Fri Jan 11 1991 10:33 | 10 |
| I went last year to all three, and I thought that I remembered the
bayside show as having the most "big" boats, but not many powerboats
(less than 25'). Is my recollection correct ?
Also, what are my chances of picking up a pair of average waterskis
for a good price ? Are there deals on this kind of stuff ? Last year
I didn't pay any attention to accesories, so I have no clue. Is one
of these shows more likely to have a "ski bargain" ?

re: Lloyd,
I thought the Worcester boat show was rather slim. The only boats
were down on the actual Centrum floor. None around the outer edges
like last year. Other than USCG, Environmental police and the like
the only non-boat-dealer booths were one from Water Skis Plus.
If you want to peruse a fair selection of boats then the
Centrum show is ok, but if you want anything else, like electronics
forget it.

Me too, though they DID seem to have most of the boats that
you or I would be most likely to be interested in ....IF either of
us were interested in a new boat (-:
I was there yesterday morning - - just happened to notice
how clear Quinsiggy looked from I 290, though the ramp looked to be
snowed in ....Bahh, forgettit !
What did you think of that thing that Gauch bros were showing, the
one with a 454 in it the wrong way round at the back ?
Y'know, I got the distinct impression that one of those
environmental police guys thought he recognized me ??? (-:

Yeah, they did have a pretty good selection of tournament
boats.... The first thing I thought when peering into the engine
compartment of that Nautique Excel was... "Boy that 351 has BIG
valve covers!" I'd love to take that boat for a spin...
I know what the problem was with the Lake cop... I knew him
from my safe boating class....

Anyone else go to the Boston boat show at the World Trade Center yet?
As expected, the show was a bit smaller this year with some open space
on one side of the main exhibition hall and the small back room was not
used. Some of the larger exhibitors such as Marine USA seemed to have
fewer boats on display, and some major brands weren't even represented.
Still enough boats to help with your "winter fix" though.
There's a 454 V-drive powered Nautique Excel there for you ski guys. I
fell in love with a 22' Doral mid-cabin for "only" $44K. Maybe next
year.... :^(
Ticket price is up to $7.50. Saw in the paper afterward that discount
coupons are available at Star Market.

| Lotsa people but I would guess lotsa lookers. I didn't see many
sellers filling out orders. And a lot of them had this worried look
about them. The Bliss (E&B) booth had some amazing prices on
electronics - Apelco 6300 Loran $240, 6500 - $475, RayJeff L100 $205.
One of the well known GPS receivers whose name I forget they had for
$1K off their regular discount price.
Is the New England show at the Bayside expo bigger than this? Or is
gonna be 80% duplication.

International High Performance Powerboat Show
World Trade Center, Boston
April 4-7, 1991
|
777.18 | No HP Boat Show this year | NRADM::WILSON | On the boat again... | Wed Apr 03 1991 13:32 | 16 |
| PLEASE NOTE:
The High Performance Boat Show at the Boston World Trade Center which was
scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. The listing for it in last
month's Trailer Boats magazine was incorrect.
We have the World Trade Center as one of our clients, and while speaking
with the manager this morning I asked if they were all set for the boat
show this weekend. He said they're having a Somerville Lumber home show
this weekend, and that the HP boat show was never scheduled this year.
Apparently someone provided Trailer Boats with the wrong info.
I hope no one drives in there expecting to see a boat show - sorry for
the confusion.

| I just saw some advertising for the Newport (RI) powerboat show Sept
19-22. The advertising wants you to believe it's bigger/better
because it's in Newport (btw, isn't Newport a *sailbote* mecca
anyway?).
Should I drive an hour to see this thing?

| we went a couple of years ago to the first annual. Actually just
happened to be down in the area so stopped in. I would go again.
We asw a lot of power boats in the mid-30's size which is what we
were looking for at the time.
Many different makers, sizes, styles.
