739.0. "Manufacturer's Warehouse? Renken? Marlin? Glasport?" by TOOK::SWIST (Jim Swist LKG2-2/T2 DTN 226-7102) Fri Aug 17 1990 10:14

    Does anyone have any comments on "Manufacturers Warehouse" in Grafton,
    MA? A big place, but selling 3 lines of boats I've never heard of
    (not that that means anything), these are RENKEN, MARLIN, and
    GLASPORT.

    Does anyone know anything about this place or these brands?

    (Note 596.* might be talking about the same place, but I'm not sure. )

739.2Used to be Denny's MarineROGER::GAUDETNothing unreal existsMon Aug 20 1990 12:5119
This place used to be Denny's Marine. I live about a mile from this place, so
if anyone needs anything from them just let me know. I know that they have
*LOTS* of boats. Their showroom is full, there are boats parked outside along
the street, and this morning there was a big truck pulling under their I-beam
hoist with another half-dozen boats on it. I dunno who's buying all these
boats, but someone must be.

I, too, am not familiar with Glasport boats, although I am familiar with Renken
and Marlin. They seem to sell the whole line of Marlin boats, from the ski boat
to the large cabin cruiser. Although I drive by there twice every day I don't
pay much attention to the boats anymore since they sold their Correct Craft
franchise to Gauch Bros. in Shrewsbury. That's probably saved me from getting
into an accident as I'd be gawking at the Ski Nautiques in the window and end up
plowing into someone pulling into the hardware store across the street. :-)

As to service there, I don't have any personal experience. When Denny was there
I dealt with him couple of times, but only for parts, and he was very helpful.

    Does anyone have any more specific info on Renken boats? I can only
    guess based on the price and a cursory inspection that they're maybe
    midrange or very slightly below on the quality scale.

    But without a frame of reference it's tough to tell.
