At a guess it applies to Sport Nautiques too, maybe other
models, I really don't know. Call your dealer immediately, don't use
the boat, don't panic.

I have a long letter that says something about despite pressure
testing of the tanks they've found during extended field use that some
welds may be less than perfect, leading to leaks and potentially to
the BIG BOOM ! It goes on to say that they don't know exactly how
many tanks are or are likely to be affected, but they want to err on
the side of safety and replace them all, etc. Oh, earlier it said
they are from an independent supplier (make/buy decision was to buy).
The good news is that they seem to have put this out as soon
as they knew about it - - the bad news is that they're having
problems getting enough tanks to the dealers fast enough to satisfy
the demand; understandable, they're probably winding down production
of the '90s by now and don't have a lot of inventory on hand,
everybody wants to get their's first, natch.
I'll post details as they become available, Forrest and the
factory are trying their hardest to get mine fixed this week so I can
take it to Willoughby on friday.

PS If I host a gumball this week it will be on/in/behind the
Sea-Ray - - nice boat, small, flat wake, economical on gas, quiet
too,,,, etc.

| Wow! And I drove one of those beasties in our ski show this weekend...ack! :-)
Actually, it was still a beautiful thing to drive.
An interesting thing is that the owner had his boat back at Gauch last week
(bought it there earlier this year) for strut/bearing replacment (he had a
vibration when turning at high speeds) but he didn't mention anything about
them doing anything with the fuel tank. Maybe they didn't know about it yet, or
maybe his is a late enough model that the tank is one of the "safe" ones (if
there is such a thing). Of course, when I saw him back on the water on Friday,
I only asked him if the vibration had gone away (to which he cheerfully said
"Yes!").

Thanks to Correct Craft, Forrest Marine and Fed Express next
day air service my boat was fixed the friday after I got the initial
"panic_gram". One week, not bad. The guys at Forrest worked O/T on
it friday (while I went over to the Peasant Brain Mall and ate at
Charlie's) I hooked up and drove to Vermont for 3 weeks of lake fun.
It seems to be a slightly different design to the original
tank, about a gallon smaller too.
