Oh no.... Should I answer this???
A quick check of the nearest directory reveals:
Campers-Inn
550 Amherst St.
Nashua, NH
603-883-1082
Meredith Marine
Bay Shore Drive
Meredith, NH
603-279-7921
The Boat House
770 Bridge St
Weymouth, Ma
But, a quick check of this conference says:
If you're looking at an entry level boat, take a look at
brands such as Sunbird and others(which I'm sure others will comment
on) and such features as:
1) All thru-hull bolts are backed
2) Hand laid hull
3)Other than a Force engine
Of course, the above comments relate to entry level Bayliners.
While we're on the subject, does anyone have any input pro or con
on the Maxums?

Patrick,
There's also USA Marine on route 20 in Worcester, and Ox Bow
Marina in North Hampton MA. But to help you locate a dealer
it would help to know, where are *you* located?

632.3 | I was EXTREMELY unimpressed with Maxxum! | CSMET2::CHACE | is it getting warmer? | Thu Mar 15 1990 09:20 | 22 |

I got a chance to check out the Maxxums when the were recently
at the Pheasant Lane Mall Boat Show.
I have NEVER seen worse hull construction! I thought Maxxums
were supposed to be a step up, but these looked BAD.
There were *sizeable* RIPPLES along the hull up near the rub rail,
and there was a GREAT deal of print through of the mat. (I could
EASILY see all the criss-crossing fibers through the Gelcoat, and
this was right up near the rubrail - and over WIDE areas!)
It was so bad, I used it as a demo to show my wife. We looked
at the Maxxums and then compared to the Sea Rays that were there
(I think they were Sea Ray, anyway, it was some boat with a GOOD
rep). It was a good demo to show the difference between poor
construction and good. There was no comparison.
After what I saw, I would buy a Bayliner - WAY before I'd buy
a Maxxum! (no offense to Bayliner owners)

| Funny thing about Maxums & Baystrainer boats. Take one of each Same
model an put them next to each other & try to find the differeance?
Why I do believe that they have different colored decals. WoW!

| Re picking up a new Larson in 15 days - I am partial to Larsons having
owned a 17' Bowrider since 1985 (as we say downunder, they're built
like the proverbial brick **ithouse) and am thinking of trading up this
year to something around 25'. I am considering something (slightly)
used as it's a buyers market right now but would consider a new one if
I got the right deal. Any info on dealers with good reputations in the
greater Boston area (out to Worcester) would be appreciated.

| I said "with a good reputation". These guys used to be okay until the
business was sold 3 or 4 years ago. The new owners tried to screw
me when I had my boat readied for summer 2 years ago ("it will be
cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the problem and boy, have we got
a deal for you").
Good luck with the new boat....Barrie

632.9 | Stay Away From Ox Bow | DECWET::MPETERSON | Max Overhead | Thu Mar 29 1990 21:37 | 7 |
| Stay away from Ox Bow in Northhampton. I bought a 25' Trophy there 3
years ago and had to get an attorney to force them to deliver on their
promises.

632.10 | OXBOW BOAT SALES | USCTR1::FMACGILLIVRA | MACGILLIVRAY | Thu Apr 05 1990 14:32 | 11 |
| I have heard of similar experiences with OxBow. Another employee
had the same experience and I kept away from them when I was in
the market for my Bayliner
By the way, the dealer on Route 3A, Scituate, that was referred
to in a previous note may have been Haborlights Boat Sales. The
were actually located in Cohasset and are now out of business.
This was a venture of Garvey Oldsmobile (Hingham) which turned out
to be a fiasco. They sold a lot of boats but left a lot of
people with lots of service problems and headaches that were never
resolved.

does anyone out there know where I can find parts for a Bayliner??
I called Bayliner in Wa. but I,m waiting for them to return my call.
I have a Cirra Sunbridge 24" and need minor parts (gas cap etc). Seems
Bayliner does not use universal parts.
By the way I live in Marlboro Ma.
Thanks
