483.0. "Try This For Top Cleaner" by MAMTS6::WFIGANIAK () Wed Aug 23 1989 10:54

I know there is a note on cleaning tips so someone may want to move
this. I have an 86 SeaRay 268 with the white vinyl/canvas type covers
and they do get really dirty. This past weekend, one where it hasn't
rained here in Maryland, I used Wesely's white wall tire cleaner
and it looked like a TV commerical. One side of the top was almost
new looking while the other side still had that "before " look.
If you havent tried it, do. It really made things look good again.
Don't forget to follow up with some clear coat. I used the Wesely's
vinyl cleaner/sealer. This stuff is just sprayed on then rubbed
in. It has a UV block in it.
    Safe Boating.

Thanks Walt, I'll give Wesley's a try. My boat is only 4 months
old, but already I've had problems with the removing the black
stuff that accumulates on the top. Neither Fantastik or Simple
Green worked very well. I'll post my results here after trying it.

Wesley's also works for removing all types of scum and dirt from
fiberglass hulls. Like excess teak oil that has gotten dirty next
to trim or left over herring chum.....

There is some motorcycle cleaner called 'S100' . Its about $8. for
a 16 oz bottle. This stuff is an all purpose cleaner and will leave
a shine when dry that is incredible. It the best stuff I have ever
used by far! It was developed by a West German chemist who used
to work for Proctor and Gamble. The S100 wheel cleaner is the only
wheel cleaner recommended by Mercedes Benz. (I sound like a salesman?)
It can be found in most motorcycle shops, its in a white bottle
    with a spay top.
