463.1 | Water Skis Plus in Spencer MA | ROGER::GAUDET | Ski Nautique | Fri Aug 04 1989 13:51 | 7 |
| Hi Jeanne...
I dunno if you want to go this far out of your way, but I know Water
Skis Plus in Spencer does it. I watched the guy mount a plate binding
on a Connelly HP slalom when I was there back in January. FWIW.

Hello and thanks, Roger! I thought about Water Ski Plus,
if I have to I will. And while I'm there I may as well
take a lesson!
p.s. that Rob is such a trouble maker, huh?!! :>)

463.4 | Drilling = paranoia | ROGER::GAUDET | Ski Nautique | Mon Aug 07 1989 14:12 | 26 |
| RE: .-1
I'd take a shot at it but I don't want to take responsibility if I
screw up! I've moved the bindings on several skis and it always makes
me *extremely* nervous when I start drilling...it always feels like
I'm going right through the ski...although I haven't...yet. The
internal construction of some skis will occasionally grab the drill bit
and pull it down. I've been fortunate that I use a variable speed
drill and always use the low speed setting. At least you have a chance
to stop before going through. But I saw my uncle do go right through
an old slalom and he had to do some fiberglass work on the bottom to
repair the hole. What you really need is a drill bit stopper so that
you can't drill deeper than a certain depth. The guy at WS+ has one on
a cordless drill and can mount the binding in 2 minutes. It's great.

Yeah I think the heat's getting to him out there! Hey Rob, is there
any water left in your lakes or has it all evaporated? :-)
And speaking of bindings, I saw a really nifty setup on the boots that
come on the LaPoint O'Brien TRC Pro...it's called a "Flip-Loc" and is
used to adjust the tension of the wraps. Pretty neat idea...much
easier than taking out all those screws!

463.5 | Skiin', Fryin', and Flip-lockin'. | GIMLEE::RC | Footer | Mon Aug 07 1989 16:24 | 14 |
| Hey Roger,
Yes we still have a little water left out here. In fact we
were out this weekend, finally turned around on the single trick.
Boy that thing is slippery. You're right about the sun though,
we're still frying out here, come on September!
They've always had those flip-locks on Master Craft skis.
I have a Lapoint Radius. They work fine. Once you get them
set though it doesn't matter, you never touch them again anyway.
Too bad they had to put such a silly name on such a good ski. 8-)
Oh well!

Dropped the ski off at Baert's Marine in Plaistow, N.H.,
they tell me I can have the ski back on Wednesday a.m.,
the charge is $10.
>> finally turned around on the single trick
Thats great! I've managed a side-slide on the single
trick, but thats all. I think having a boot that keeps
my foot from moving around is going to make a *big* difference.
This is the first time I've ever had to get soaped to get
into a boot.
Cory Pickos fever! (hope he does 11,000 points this year)

463.7 | drilling? no sweat! | REMEDY::KOPEC | now I try to be amused | Tue Aug 08 1989 12:18 | 5 |
| Hey, Rog: no need to sweat drilling thru a ski any more! We can
make a drill stop quite easily.... (and Spag's probably sells them,
if you're lazy....)

| RE: .5 Yeah Rob, I guess it makes sense that the Flip-Lock is now on
the LaPoint O'Brien skis since Mastercraft skis and O'Brien skis have
combined. Didn't think about that when I made the observation.
Must've had water in my eyes... :-)
RE: .7 Too true Tom, but I'm even lazier than that...I buy skis with
the binding I want on the already mounted so all I have to worry about
is moving it forward or back a notch (6 screws and you're done). Thank
God for cordless screwdrivers!
