460.1 | Try Roy's Marine in Worcester. | BINKLY::SMITH | | Wed Aug 02 1989 10:40 | 14 |
|
I have had good success with Roy's Marine on Lake Ave. in Worcester,
Ma. (508) 752-6344 He is Mercruiser and Glastron Dealer.
The last time I was in there was for a broken power trim pump.
Instead on just taking the old one out and installling a new
one (about $300+) he took the time (2+hours) to repair the old
one. He is not any cheaper than others, but I have not walked away
feeling like I have just been ripped off.
Give him a call, tell him I sent you, he sould remember me.

460.2 | One Satisfied Customers Story | USCTR2::HWYDOM | | Wed Aug 02 1989 11:33 | 34 |
| A couple of weeks ago I faced the same problem. Discovered some
oil in the bilge and it turned out I needed a new front oil seal on
my Mercruiser 165. (Always happens on vacation). Took the boat
to the Wareham Boat Yard, off route 6 between Wareham and Marion
on the Weweantic River. The owner confirmed my findings. Left the
boat there at noon ona Thursday. Got a call at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday
to come and pickit up, "it was all ready". I couldn't believe it,
normally from past experience it would take 3 weeks or so to even get
someone to look at it, (if you were lucky), during which time you
would get treated like dirt.
Turns out that 'Wayne' the owner, and his wife recently bought the
business (a few years ago). It's a small place, no big marina or
anything like that, and they treat you like a person, someone who's
business they appreciate. When you go there they understand you
have problem and they're personal and easy to do business with.
Anyway,an elapsled two days to pull the engine, and the outdrive,
replace all the seals and gaskets ,re-install, and test was
UNBELIEVABLE, especially for an off the street customer, I'd never
been there before. (and the cost was also reasonable for good work).
They provide authorized Mercruiser sales & service (4 full time
mechanics).
If you're in the area you might want to give them a call.

Tell them that Herb (who had the Slickcraft oil leak) recommended
them.

460.4 | Another vote for Roy's | CONCRT::ONDOVIC | | Thu Aug 03 1989 09:50 | 5 |
| I would add a second vote for Roy's Marina. I have had my boats
serviced by him for the last three years. The quality of his work
is excellent. He is also a Glastron dealer.

| An excellent place to do business with is Allen Harbor Marine in
Harwich Port. Super people, extremely honest.

PS I had a similar problem and they turned a bad situation into a fair
experience.

460.6 | Greens Marine in NH | CGVAX2::JOHNSON_S | | Mon Aug 07 1989 12:57 | 7 |

You never did say where you needed this Mercruiser Service Center
to be, but if it is in the Southern NH area- I would have to recommend
Greens Marine in Hooksett. They are very honest, knowledgable and
reasonable (relatively speaking).
Good luck- they're hard to find!

I need some info on marine service centers in or around the Hudson,MA
area. I need to replace the water pump on my Merc XR2 150...
Roy's Marine in Worcester is not an authorized Merc repair shop.
Has anyone out there ever dealt with Robinson's Marine in Boxboro??
I would like to take my baby to a reputable shop that has a good track
record...
Any input would be appreciated,
Tony...
