431.0. "Questions on Bayliners/Volvo engines" by USEM::SPENCE () Mon Jul 10 1989 14:35
Just needed some info from some of you serious boaters.
I'm entertaining the idea of buying a 1978 Bayliner Cabin
cruiser. However here's some of the questions I have. I
know today that most people say to stay away from Bayliners
due to the quality and workmanship. However I also heard that
any of the Bayliners built before 1980 were of quality construction.
Any truth to this? I know for a fact that they were a heavier
back then and more seaworthy. Anything else I should know? This
boat has twin 140 Volvo's. I understand they are good engines, however
it may be hard to find parts...any truth to that? Also Volvo
engines in general anyone out there have good or bad luck? These
engines have about 525 hours each. They seem clean however, this
boat has sat for two years and I hope I won't run into serious
problems...comments.
