382.0. "Need info on custom canopy?" by MPGS::PERCUOCO () Mon May 22 1989 11:46

Can anyone tell me where I can get a custom canopy
built for my 18' bow rider. I live in southeastern
Ma. but work in Shrewsbury. I'm looking for something that
I can fold down or put up to keep out of the sun, rain, etc..

Bay State canvas in shrewsbury. He's got a big inough building
to put your boat inside to work on it. i had one made there
several years ago. i was satisfied dealing with him and the
    quality of the work.

There a place in Shrewsbury on route 20. Just a bit east of and on the
opposite side of Gauch Bros. Marine. I'm told they do good work, but
do not have any direct experience. Give Gauch a call (799-0714) and I'm
sure they'll have the name and number. Could be a bit pricey??

I had Johnson Canvas (reply .2) make a mooring cover for my boat.
They did a good job and the price was reasonable. I brought the
boat to them in the morning and picked it up the same day.

I had John Lombardo of East Bay Cushion & Canvas do my Bayliner
Sunbridge plus two seat cushions. I have the full bridge surround,
transparent front and sides, frame and canvas back all the way to
the transom, the lot for $1300. Hope it was a good deal. I didn't
have much to reference it to....

I had JM CANVAS make a console cover for my Whaler. I was very pleased with the
work and the price. They're on Stafford Road, across from Maplewood Park.

There is also a guy with a shop in one of the old Navy buildings at Bend Boat
Basin in Porthsmouth, RI. George (can't remember his last name, but the marina
people know him) built a stainless steel top support for my HydraSports after
the aluminum one collapsed. He does big-time work; full surrounds for yachts,
cabin cruisers, sportsfishermen... not cheap, but beautiful work.
