My tachometer stopped working last September. I fiddled with the wires a little but nothing happened. My mechanic says I must need a new one. I have two questions - First, is there some other obvious things that I can check, connections, etc.? Second, I have an 18' 120 I/O - how important is the tachometer? I usually ran around 3K RPMs, but I ran mostly by feel anyway. If I sell the boat (it's a '71) sometime, how important would a tachometer be to potential buyer? I suppose I should fix it, but it's going to cost over $100, which is why I'm wondering if I really need it. Thanks! Bill

for what your doing and the way you run the boat, its not a necessity. if its a 71 boat i don't think the tach is really gonna boost it resale. actually its up to you, its handy when your working on the engine, but if a mechanic is working on it, he problably has his own. jim. | |||||
