spring - at least from where I stood.
So I'll say April 25th..

| April 20th. Given that the edges are melting now and there are still
trucks and airplanes ON the ice, I would say that there is still some melting
left to go. But judging that "MEL & SALLY's" is opened 2 weeks earlier this
year (and MEL never comes back from Florida earily), could be a good year for
SPRING boating.....

| Judging solely on what I saw from 35000 feet as we flew over N.H. on
my flight back from London yesterday, it looks like Winni is not going
to break the Mar. 28th record by a long shot. I'll guess Apr. 26th.

melt soon with all the spring weather we're bound to have next week?
Right? (After we finish with this snow storm that we're haveing
right now- and the mountains are expected to get 3-6 inches)

As of Sunday April 16, Lake Winnie is still frozen. There is about
40-100 feet of open water along the shore in most areas, and several
large open fissures heading out toward the middle. Looks as if a
couple of warm, sunny, breezy days like we had yesterday should do
the trick. I'll be calling the Marine Patrol later in the week to
check on the status.
Rick W. (So much for my guess of April 14th.)

| Is this contest still open? I'll pick tomorrow, April 21, 3:00 PM.
This morning, I was fishing on the west side of the lake, and while
there is a lot of open water, Alton bay is still slushed in, as well as
areas around weares and woflboro. The salmon are biting (and they are
good :-)

I just called Meredith Marina for an update on the iceout
conditions. According to the person I spoke with, the open
water area along the shore has increased since last weekend,
but the center of the lake is still very frozen.
When I asked for his opinion on when it would be clear, he
said "by next weekend for sure". According to the local
weather guesser, the boating weather for this weekend doesn't
sound too promising anyway (40's and 50's).

Rick,
On April 21, (Friday) I launched my boat at Wolfboro
and went to the Channel at the Wiers (sp), around rattlesnake
and into Alton bay. Ice was still on the lake from north of
the Wiers to Meredith, the rest of the lake was iced out.
I was also on the lake Sunday afternoon, if there was any
ice on the lake left is was gone with the huge wind blown
waves.
Ladies and gentlemen start your engines...

at 11:xx (11:41 I believe) yesterday morning. Too bad, that would
have been my guess. :-)

What great news...after my arrival back home from Colorado - one of the
only places where you can snow ski in the morning (A Basin @ 13,000 Ft)
and water ski all afternoon (Boulder Res @ 5,500 Ft).
I just want to say thank you to my parents, friends, and all you great
people out there who helped me reach an accurate pick for this years
ICEOUT Contest - to all you people who believed in me all those
difficult weeks, thanks... :-)
Now all I have to do is come up with the money to pay for the
Icebreaker rental :-)

| Rob,
I was at Vail on the 23rd, Loveland on the 25th, and A-Basin on the
26th of April....small world. I thought about going to A-Basin on that
Sunday, but stayed with some friends in a condo at Vail instead.
