207.0. "Lake Quinsigamond" by WILLEE::DALTON () Mon Nov 14 1988 10:32

I am considering renting some dock space on Lake Quinsigamond for
next summer. I have never been on this lake although I have driven
    around it.

Can anyone offer any advice? Is this lake clean, crowded, depth,
what to look out for, etc.

    Thanks for the help.

My parents have had a boat on Quinsig for about the last 25
years. The lake if much cleaner than it was 5-10 years ago, basically
it's o.k. to swim in but I wouldn't want to take too many mouth
fulls. On a saturday or sunday peak hours the lake will be fairly
crowded, it's never been too crowded for me to ski on but on a really
nice weekend around 1:00 pm it can get hairy. As for depth, no
problem except for the rocks between the islands at the
south end of the lake, these are marked by a pylon, never go between
those two islands. Also there are portions between some of the other
islands where you can sometimes stand (5-6'depth). Our boat is a
straight inboard with a real deep draft and we've never had a problem.

Can't say I've been on the lake at peak hours, but I skied with
some guys who live on the lake (George, are you listening?) and
it's a nice lake to ski, especially at 5:30 AM! Just watch out
for the bird doodee floating near the bridges :-) ... and you gotta
keep an eye out for the sail boat rentals near the Rt. 9 bridge.
They have the right of way (according to the book) even though 90%
of them don't know how to sail!
