200.1 | 600?? | ARCHER::SUTER | Water is meant to ski on! | Tue Nov 01 1988 16:04 | 12 |

Yeah, I just read the article myself. Sounds like Whaler
is really getting into the military market. They build the
same boats for the Navy? (was it the Navy?) anyway...
The standard patrol boat for S.A. is powered by a 225 hp
outboard, but the two "Special" ones for the king will be
powered by a 600 hp mill! Is this monster an outboard? Or
maybe a misprint?

| I saw the boats on channel 5 news last night - one of them had
2 Johnson 300 HP outboards on it for a total of 600HP. They
said it'll do a little better than 50 MPH. I think the boat
was a 24 or 27 footer.

200.3 | C.G. uses 22's | USRCV1::FRASCH | | Wed Nov 02 1988 10:42 | 7 |
| I think Whaler has been providing "Military" products for some time.
The Coast Guard uses a bunch of 22' rigs with twin 90 Johnsons.
(no machine guns) As far as I know, each active station on the Great
Lakes has at least two 22's. They have a bunch of extra hardware
for rescue operations installed, but I'm not sure who does the
installation.
Whats it like on the East Coast?

Jeanne, I wonder if they list the machine gun in the Whaler options
catalog? I know what boat we're NOT using to ski next season...
:-)
Hey, you missed bouy 5! ... Rat-ta-tat-tat ... NEXT! :-) :-)

| I don't think whaler will use photo's in there brochures, Not there
style. I do know that Monark has a 19 ft ctr console with a fifty
cal that they used as a river boat in Asia. And that Merrimack 27
has a version with a fifty and powered by twin 225 Yams that fly's.
I think stingers on a jet ski with a puff would be just the ticket.
How about ASROCK or a HARPOON on a ranger?

200.8 | East Coast CG uses 'em too! | SCOMAN::BOURGAULT | I have a story to tell..... | Thu Dec 08 1988 02:31 | 8 |
| Re: .3 on CG using Whalers. East Coast does (did in 70s when I
was active duty, seen some since....) use various sizes. We had
a 19' in Newport, RI to check out oil pollution cases with. The
local 82' and 95' patrol-type boats frequently had a small
Whaler on a crane.... useful for checking out "tight" spots
where the big fella wouldn't fit.... And so on.....
