171.0. "Yamaha Outboard Dealers in NH?" by RUTLND::DAY () Wed Sep 28 1988 10:02

    I'm in the market for a new outboard and would like some suggestions
    on brands and dealers. I'm leaning toward a Yamaha short shaft
    50.  I've been running 40 horse Johnsons (a couple of 35's originally)
    and most-recently a 40 Merc.  I've decided to move up to a 50 and
    would probably have stayed with Merc but they don't have one with
    a 15" shaft. Are there some reputable Yamaha dealers in southern
    NH? I've been getting the run-around from a dealer in Brunswick,
    ME. He doesn't want to take a trade with the end-of-season sale
    prices and he won't install the motor on a Saturday! BTW the boat
    is a 15 foot, wood Lyman - 1958 - I sleep on board and have cruised
    from Cutler to Portland. Home port is South Bristol, ME. Thanks
    for your help.

    There is a Yamaha dealer in Seabrook N.H. (Driscolls Marine)..
     roughly the corner of Rt. 107 (off I-95) and Rt. 1. Give them
    a shout Ben!

171.3A good dealer!TNPUBS::BDAYDinsdale ... Dinsdale!Mon Apr 27 1992 11:2710

    But you didn't say how good they are!

    I odered an oil bleeder screw for my Yamaha 50 from MacCallums' on the
    14th and just called this morning to check the status. Pete told me it
    was on back order but that he would call Wisconsin and get back to me.
    (Yeah, sure.) Well, he did! Within 5 minutes. The part is on rush order
    and will be in the shop this week! He apologized for the delay.

    I'm impressed with that kind of service and courtesy! /ben

    Not having had the boat in the water for two years, I never tried the
    oil bleeder screw mentioned in the previous reply. Well, yesterday I
    tried it and it doesn't fit. I called MacCallums, spoke to Donald, he
    said I had to bring in the motor but not until the end of June since
    they have to service their storage customers!

    Sigh ....

    Any OTHER Yamaha dealers around? Driscolls in Seabrook doesn't seem to
    be listed. Clemens in Brunswick has gone belly-up. BTW, who is the guy
    who used to be active in these notes, took the package and is now
    working at a boat/marine dealer on 101A. I seem to remember someone
    saying he made house calls. /ben

    Baert Marine in Seabrook NH is a yamaha dealer. I think Driscoll's
    went belly up a few years back. As for the guy who left, that's Rick
    Wilson. He's in the milord book, not too mention there's plenty of
    references to/for him here.

171.8Many thanks. Got a screw in Billerica today!TNPUBS::BDAYDinsdale ... Dinsdale!Mon May 23 1994 20:2210
    Wow! Thanks for the numerous, quick replies!

    I found the Billerica dealer and, eureka (you don't smell so good
    either), they had the oil flow adjustment screw in stock!!! Now to find
    my owner's manual. And thanks for Rick's number -- saved me looking
    through a bunch of earlier notes.

    The Lyman has been in dry dock for two seasons and I can't wait to
    launch her again (South Bristol, Maine) and try to make it past Cutler
    this time.  Thanks again /ben

    Confirm the multiple opinions that Rick is a great guy! He also know a
    bit about boats and motors! Showed me some photos of his collection.
    Wow!

    Turns out the carbs on the Yamaha need to be rebuilt so I've ordered
    the kit and Rick will help again when it arrives.

    I would highly recommend Rick if anybody is looking for an expert
    outboard marine mechanic. /ben
171.10"Hello" from RickTNPUBS::BDAYTue Oct 11 1994 07:549
    Rick Wilson asked me to say "Hello" to everyone in this notesfile. He
    winterized my 50 Yamaha yesterday. He didn't get to do as much boating
    as he wanted this summer and only got the FeatherCraft in once but
    hopes to again before the cold weather. He's been on his Dad's
    Thompson (about the same boat as my Lyman) recently and will be
    winterizing that soon. He's still at Peter's Nissan and reports that
    the 300Z is approaching end-of-life ... so get yours now!
