114.0. "Ski Show" by CLUE::SUTER_P () Mon Aug 15 1988 14:55

    	Congrats to Doug for hosting and Roger and his ski club
    for putting on a great ski show! They braved the thunder and
    lightning just prior to the show and came up with a very
    good lineup of stunts.

    	The festivities took place on Suncook this past Sunday.
    Stunts included Roger as one of the "human skis" .......
    How'd that water taste Rog A guy skiing on a paddle! One
    helluva great attempt at slalom rope jump.... and a six
    person pyramid!

    Good stuff guys... keep me posted on the next one!

114.1Thanks to Suncook Lake AssociationROGER::GAUDETSki NautiqueMon Aug 15 1988 15:1721
    Thanks, Rick. Glad you could make it. BTW where the heck were you
    after the rains came? I looked for you throughout the show! Doug
    said he saw your boat on the trailer somewhere in the Camp Fatima
    parking lot but I didn't see you or the boat during the show.

    Hey how about that barefoot tooth hold attempt? That choppy water
    was great fun to 'foot on, and the faceplant I took hurt like hell,
    getting whacked under the right eye with the handle on that one.
    Oh well, it's all part of the risk, right?

    A good time was had by all. Maybe next year we can get more noters
    together to come and see such show (and perhaps ski too). Thanks
    are in order to the Suncook Lake Association for allowing us to
    come to their lake and perform for the Camp Fatima kids and lake
    residents. And a special thanks to Doug and all the folks on Suncook
    Lake who were so nice to our crew (especially Doug's sister who
    had to put up with us trampling all over her lawn and dock!). Their
    hospitality made for a great weekend.

114.2Let's do it again!SETH::WHYNOTTue Aug 23 1988 11:1024
    I'm back from vacation so I just had to reply to this note.

    MANY, MANY THANKS to you Roger and all of "KEYO's KIDS" for braving
    the terrible conditions (thunder, lightning, waves, chop, etc...)
    to put on a terrific show. Next year we can schedule it at a better
    time of day, say 9AM some sunny sunday. Also we can work out better
    accommodations for your people (my aunt offered her camp) and of
    course, we'll have a bigger audience if the weather cooperates.
    The irony is that saturday and sunday morning practices were flawless
    and then at showtime (to the minute) all h*!! breaks loose with
    the weather. We lost a lot of spectators because of the 1 hour rain
    delay. Oh well, there's always next year... Also, as you suggested,
    we will have some local talent in the show. Leigh Westlake
    (Ski-Eliminator) is doing around-the-boats and other craziness (see
    what you started) and my wife and I can do over and under Ski-Skats,
    possibly jump rope if I can get high enough out of the water. (not too
    much suface area to push off against) We'll see what else we can
    come up with by then.
    Doug
    BTW: for those of you who don't know what a Ski-Skat is, it's a
    wooden board that looks like a skateboard without wheels, and has
    a skeg on the bottom and two rubber toe pieces that you wear like
    a slalom ski. (although it behaves nothing like one)

114.3Show skiing on ESPNKAHALA::SUTERand now for something you'll really like!Tue Sep 19 1995 15:5719
	Reviving this note.... Geez it's been 7 years since Roger's
ski show on Suncook!

	Anyone catch the Show Skiing competition on ESPN last night?
These teams were serious about their show skiing and really performed
some amazing stunts.

	One team did 5 slalom skiers around-the-boat, I guess
the record is 8! Lot's of footin... 3 off the beach, 20 at one time....
I think the stunt that impressed me the most wasn't even really
considered a stunt, but simply a start. Most teams pulled at least
one act either, pyramid or dance line, right off the dock! These
were acts which contained 20+ skiers and in the case of the pyramids
they were already built before the left the dock! Amazing!

114.4Around and around we go....BIRDIE::JGREENLiving beyond my emotional meansWed Sep 20 1995 09:568
    I caught part of it through the miracle of channel surfing. I'm always
    impressed with the footers as they don't have predictably calm water.
    Stuff I wouldn't bother packing a suit for they run through with style.
    I turned it off just after the 5 skiers around the boat trick. I think
    we could do that trick with the low windshield of the Flightcraft
    fairly easy. Maybe we can try it at the gumball next week!

	didja notice that the boat the 5 around-the-boat-skiers were
behind/beside/in-front-of had *no* windshield? Bet that driver made
sure his head was kept low!

    I got this show on tape if anyone wants to see it, otherwise it will be
    used for our (almost) annual midwinter party. (Jeff's turn?)
