| 89.5 | not good news... | PIPPER::BORZUMATO | Wed Jun 24 1992 08:02 | 18 | |
Time has a way of passing, i was reminded that i had replied to
this note in 1988. The reply was with regard to Cuttyhunk, and fuel
costs.
Well, as time passes things change.
The Cuttyhunk fuel dock HAS CLOSED. No fuel will be sold there.
If your passing thru, and your thirsty don't plan to get fuel
there.
My sources tell me that, the license was up for renewal
the EPA rules, regualtions for fuel stations near the water
are expensive to meet. Rather than try and meet them,
the owner closed it.

| 89.6 | BLUEFN::GORDON | Tue Nov 29 1994 12:09 | 18 | ||
This note has something to do with gas so I put it here. Has anyone else heard that MASS is requiring a new gas. This new gas is more friendly to the environment. It is currently being used/required in states that have high air polution rates. Mass currently in below the polution rates that the feds require the use of this new gas. Cost 4-9 cents more a gallon *MOST* cars/engines will not experience any problems. If they were recently tuned up there should be no problem. Obviously, there is something different with this gas and probably, it has less power. I wonder what the effect will be on boat engines particularly outboards. Has anyone read anything about this in any boating magazines?? Gordon
| 89.7 | MTBE? | KAHALA::SUTER | Never too Hot! | Tue Nov 29 1994 14:59 | 6 |
I believe the new additive slated for Mass gas on December 1 is called MTBE. Isn't this the alcohol based stuff that we all have to worry about our fuel lines over? Rick
| 89.8 | new gas in NH too! | AIMHI::BEAUCHESNE | Wed Nov 30 1994 11:59 | 6 | |
it will also be required in three NH counties (Rockingham, Hillsboro,
and Merrimack I beleive). Supposed to be showing up real soon (with
it's 6-7 cent increase), and definately by Jan 1st. Sorry, don't know
how/if it will affect marine engines.

| 89.9 | How much at the Dock | SALEM::ABRAMS | Wed Nov 30 1994 14:49 | 12 | |
If it is 6-7 cents increase at the pumps it will be 20-30 cents
at the dock and it probably will not work well in Marine engines.
They are constantly passing laws and not understanding the whole
picture. Just look at the laws they passed last year on diesel
fuel and what problems it caused. I guess I have to wait and
see how it works.
