84.0. "Narraganset Bay" by SMAUG::LINDQUIST () Fri Jul 22 1988 11:17

    I would like to drag my boat and trailer down to Narraganset
    bay sometime soon. Any recommendations for launching ramps
    which aren't too much of a drive from I-495?

    I don't mind paying, as long as the ramp is reasonable, and
    there is adequate parking.

    Thanks.

84.1Where ar'ya going?CIMNET::CREASERSUPER STRINGFri Jul 22 1988 14:1411
    Lee,
    Allen Harbor, about half way down on the West side has two very
    nice ramps. 495, 95, 4 gets you to the turn. I believe that puts
    the harbor in North Kingston.

    Of course there are several others, but would need to know what
    areas you plan to visit. The bay is about 30 minutes long by car
    and can easily be 2-3 hours by boat under adverage sea states.

84.2Try Ray'sBAGELS::MONDOUMon Jul 25 1988 13:3310
    Ray's bait shop in Warwick has a good ramp. I believe the cost
    is $5.00.   Parking is included.

    Take Rt 95 South thru Providence to the exit for Rt 117 East.
    Follow that a short distance( 3 traffic lights ?) and turn right
    onto Rt 1 South.
    Go about 100 yards and turn left on Arnold's Neck Drive. Ray's
    will be on the left just after the railroad overpass. Bait and
    fuel also available. Good ramp and you can launch at low tide.
    I launch my 25 ' Wellcraft there.
84.3Bristol RI launch rampsBIZNIS::CADMUSWed Sep 21 1988 18:3551

     I've got a cottage on Narraganssett Bay and keep a Boat moored
    in Bristol. RI- there are some good ramps in Bristol at the following
    locations

    1. Colt state Park (entrance off of Rt 114 in Bristol)- paved ramp-
    wide- but in a south to westerly breeze, it can be dicey-the wind
    blows right up the bay

    2. in Bristol- at the mouth of Bristol Harbor- at rt 114- there
    is a small town park and ramp- not paved- but sheltered by a seawall

    3. Town ramp at state streetand water street intersection- good
    macadam/concrete ramp- parking is limited, but you can launch boat
    and park your car in the park in 2 above and walk about two/three
    blocks

    Directions:

     take 95 soth to providence-pick up 195 East towards the cape an
    get off at Rt114 to Barrington /Wareen and Bristol.

    when you get to Bristol, look for a shooping cneter with an ALMAC's
    market on your left- keep going straight- tywo more lights and youre
    at the entrance toColt State Park-that gets you to (1). continue
    on 114about 2mi and water street veers off 114(opposite the Exxon
    station- just follow along the water- you can't missit-the park(2)
    is immedaitely on your right. Continue on Water street about two
    Blocks and the State strre ramp is on your right- this is really
    sheltered-it's a channel about 300' long with a stone piers on
    either side. Gilbert's seafood market/shellfish wholesaler is
    on the pier- youre now at (3).

    caution DO NOT park at the area in (3) marked f"for town residents
    only- the Bristol Police have Big hats,pot bellies, sun glasses
    and two digit IQ's- the marine police are OK, however.

    Just watch out in Bristol harbor- it's 5mph and they mean it (unless
    you are a quahogger or a relative of the mayor)- open water starts
    at the coast guard station abou 1/4 mi from the ramps

    Lots of lick- but get a chart and/or stay in the channels! there
    are some nasty spots in the bay around some of the islands at low
    water and the bottom near shore is rocky

    Enjoy!

Any suggestions for boat ramps on Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod Bay, or Narraganset
Bay? We put our boat in last weekend at Wareham. The location was great --
we went into Buzzard's Bay, then up through the canal and into Cape Cod Bay.
It was nice not running into the crowded conditions we've found at lakes, and
being in deep water most of the time. The one problem we did have though, was
coming back at low tide. Our propeller was actually churning up mud on the
way back to the ramp! Any suggestions of places to launch a 19-foot power
boat where the water is fairly deep (and calm) even at low tide?

84.5Cold Storage Beach -- Bay side of CapeOSINMS::BURKEJeff BurkeWed Sep 04 1991 19:177
Christa,

	Just getting caught up on this conference. I tried two different
ramps in Dennis in the bay near Cold Storage Beach -- both have reasonable
charges if you are not a resident, but are easy to find.

P.S. Boy, wuz that water clean and green on the bay side of the Cape.
