43.0. "Painting a mooring float" by IAMOK::BELL (dtn 273-3217 VRO5-2/D6) Mon Jun 13 1988 17:55

Need some help. This is a little different than boats
per se but is related. I have an orange Mooring marker in
the water at Falmouth. I am required to have a white marker with
a blue stripe. Problem is I don't want to buy a new
marker IF (this may be a bif IF) I can paint the orange
plastic all white and then put a stripe on it. Has anyone
out there ever done anything like this? Will any kind
of waterproof or nautical paint permanently or semi-
    permanently adhere to this? Thanks

Cheap fix? I don't know how close you are to Veryfine Apples in
Littleton but I have picked up some Blue poly fruit juice barrels
over there real cheap! Just paint some enamel white on them and
    there you go.
I sure you could get white poly barrels if you check around, but
be sure they don't hav toxic waste in them. Thats why I would go
to a food type place to find one.

Not only are the barrels good for floats, You can cut them in half
and make a live well, fish bucket, tub trawl, sea anchor, ect, ect,.

                                          Have fun.

P.S. Wash out the fruit juice prior to putting your float in the
water or you will have a slick of bug juice floating around. It
    looks like Dye Marker.
