39.1A Quote..TOMCAT::SUTERWater is meant to ski on!Thu Jun 09 1988 18:2318

    	I just got a quote from SkiProtection and wasn't really
    that impressed... For my 1987 Nautique with the following
    watercraft liability limits it's:

    	100k	$490.00
    	300K	$503.00
    	500k	$550.00
       1000k	$625.00

    	This is with a Layup period of Nov 1 thru April 1. I'm still
    checking out a few other places.

    	BTW: This insurance is only offered to AWSA members.

39.2Not such a deal!FSLENG::WHYNOTFri Jun 10 1988 09:328
    Correct your are Rick, available only to AWSA members (which I am)
    but I don't think their rates were all that great. My Malibu is
    insured (hull only for fire and theft) through an agent in N.H.
    and liability is a rider on my Metpay homeowners policy. This
    combination saves me about 30% over what I would have paid for
    "SKIPROTECTION" including lower deductables.

        OK, so maybe the news wasn't that great. Sorry it didn't
    work out. ;-)

        I found the rates offered by SKIPROTECTION to be 30% - 40%
    lower than anything else in N.H.. I'm insuring an 8 year old
    boat, the deal might not be so good for something a bit newer.

39.4Best buy around!AD::GIBSONLobst'a AyahFri Jul 29 1988 14:1210
    I shopped quite a few Insurance co's for my new boat and found the
    best and cheapest to be Prudential. A fellow by the name of
    Bob Gauthier on Mt. Pleasent street in lowell. is the Local
    underwriter for Pru's Boat policys.

    Give him a call- Get a peice of the rock before you hit a piece
    of the rock.

    Oop's sorry. Make that Mt. Washington st. in Lowell, Ma.

    He makes house calls too!

39.6Senseless gathering of irrelevant info/data.MENTOR::REGJust browsing; HONEST, I'm BROKE !Fri Jul 29 1988 14:1810

    	Metpay has started to hassle me for the full names, dates of
    birth and driver's licence numbers of anyone/everyone that will/might
    operate my boat. This is for the second renewal of my policy (3rd
    year). They are telling me that it is Metpay "Policy", I am close
    to telling them to "Shove it." What the heck does a driver's
    licence (auto) have to do with operating a boat ?

licence (auto) have to do with operating a boat ?
    I was told (and I believe it to be true) that high risk
    automobile drivers are high risk boat operators.
39.8Can they use THIS data file for THAT risk assessment ?MENTOR::REGJust browsing; HONEST, I'm BROKE !Fri Jul 29 1988 14:578
    re .7	Maybe true, seems to make sense anyway.

    	But it still seems to violate some principles of "rights to
    privacy". If they've started "crossover risk rating" we'll probably
    see our auto insurance go up when we have boating accident claims.
