335.0. "camping trip .. date changed to June 16-18" by CAPNET::VENTURA (In their eyes, the magic resides.) Tue May 02 1995 15:50

Well, it's almost summertime!! And you know what that means! It's time
for those CAMPING TRIPS that we've all grown to love! Yes, it's
time to dust off the old tent, get the camping box together, dig
out the cooler, and get the poles for the canopy together.
(bring wood ... bring wood)

Yup, it's a continuation of the camping trips/ fall follige trip/
ski trips/ Bar-b-que's that have gone on for the past three years.
(noooo,,, not all at once, silly... We are creative, but not THAT
creative!!!) (bring wood)

The first trip that we're planning this year will be June 9-11 to
Ashaway, RI, about 15 minutes from Misquamicutt (Ok, how do YOU spell it?)
beach. The beach is a really nice, clean beach and there's also a ferry
there to go to Block Island. I've reserved a number of sites in a
local campground. Cost per site will be $9 per person per night. This fee
will also include what we used to call "campbox fee". Which means
that you can use all of the materials in the "campbox" including a propane
stove, lanterns, cooking utensils, etc. (bring wood, bring wood)

Everyone must contact ME if they'd like to go. I will in turn call the
campground with a list of names. I will need one night stay deposit ($9)
no later than Friday, May 19th.

Here are just SOME of the features about this trip!!

15 minutes to the ferry to Block Island.
lots of local beaches.
Plans include "bond"fires every night on campsites. (bring wood)
I'm planning on going at LEAST one day to Block Island
Maybe hit the beach on the other day
plenty of biking for any so inclined,
Basically you're free to do whatever you want! You can either go
off on your own or you can join in with the rest of the group!
(bring wood .. bring wood)

Other than the "Major Events", activities are NOT planned, and everyone
is free to go their own way. That means that those who get up early
with the birds & want to take off are encouraged to, and to not wait
around for us sleepy heads who just got to sleep an hour or two before.
Everyone can either go their own way, or join in with whomever is doing
whatever as the mood hits. There's always plenty to do.

As for food ... everyone is required to bring their own food for these
trips. I will not be doing any type of food plan this year (at least
for the camping trips). However, I WILL have the utensils you need to
cook with (including the propane stove for breakfast stuff). There
is ONE thing that I promise I will supply. HOT coffee for the mornings.
I've got this great perkilator for on top of the stove, so we can make
our own coffee.

Once again we will be bringing along the infamous Camp Box, which
contains all sorts of necessary & indispensable items for camping,
including, but not limited to : lanterns, canopies, (BIG canopies!),
tarps, cooking supplies (pots & pans & utensils, spices) washing supplies,
coleman stove(s?), propane grill, propane, more propane, flash lights &
batteries, matches, electric pump for the air mattresses, and other
such stuff. We've added something new to the camp box this year. A
re-fillable propane tank. While we ARE tenting, it's not QUITE stern
roughing it. We DO like our luxuries.

If interested, contact me for more details. I can be reached at
CAPNET::VENTURA. Please note, I do have a job too! So I may not get to
your message right away. It may take a few days!

Remember, DIGITAL is just an easy word to use. Digital is not
sponsoring this event and has no responsibility for anything happening
at this event. This is just a bunch of people getting together.
You know all of the usual disclaimers.

So, dig out that sleeping bag and come and join the fun! We can almost
guarantee that you'll have a good time!

Looking forward to a GREAT summer!!!

PS: While we do party, we do so in moderation. As a group, we do not
encourage any 'abuse' of alcohol, or even condone use of drugs. This
is intended as a chance to get away and relax, not get into trouble.
