334.1 | Canada Trip report, Part 1 | LJSRV1::LAMBRECHT | The Spirit of Bavaria | Wed Apr 26 1995 16:27 | 49 |
| This is the first part of our canada trip report.
;)
Last weekend Tina, her mom and I went to Canada to visit Chris.
It was a lot of fun. We had a great time together. Chris did a
great job in showing us Ontario's capital Ottawa and give us
an impression of the city's flair and atmosphere.
Because the trip was so exciting and full of fun it takes a while
and some pages to cover all we did and experienced. Therefore
this report will be partial, an anecdote a day. And I hope
that Tina will join in when she returns from recuperating from
her trip back. ;)
It was Saturday morning, we met early at Logan Airport in Boston
at the terminal. Tina and her Mom had already 2 streneous weeks
of exicing US vacation to go through... but they were in a good
mood as always. That's what i like so much about them. ;)
I picked up my tickets and checked in my duffle bag.
We proceeded to the security check station. We put down our hand
on carries and gave the security officers our purses and other
stuff. Then we went through the metal detector gate. When I
stepped in..... beep beep beep beep...... Ok, the officer sent
me back and asked me to come through again. Beep beep beep....
Very embarassing... then she checked me off line separately and
again beep beep beep....... But let me go finally.
Well, I probably should have told her that I am.... 1/3 android. ;)
The plane was a 30 seat propellor machine. Because there were only
10 passengers, we had to stack up in the rear to balance the weight.
Ok, we did. The flight was..... well, we survived it.
;) At the end the captain came out of his cabin and joined the
crew in saying good-bye to us. Ahhhh, now we knew why we had to
sit in the back of the cabin for weight balance!!!
;)
The customs people were friendly and we had no problems in going
through. They just let us into their country and wished us a
great time.
And....... our adventure began........
----- to be continued ----

It's obvious that in a company (Don't worry Martina I'm not going
to strictly talk about work)
that most of the people that works in live in the Boston area, it's
not the place to talk about a nice trip to Boston.
But seriously (en buena onda!), I need to thank to all the people
that were nice with me in Boston.
I especially remember going to the Computer Museum and paying no
ticket. The woman that was selling the tickets let me pass FREE!!
I always remember that trip.
If you come some time to Mexico City mail me before and I will
recomend you some good places.

Minor nit: Ottawa is Canada's capital, not Ontario's.
I would like to visit Ottawa sometime; I hear it is a great place and it's
a little closer than Toronto. But I will NOT take one of those puddle-jumper
airliners to get there!

334.4 | What is a nit? | LJSRV1::LAMBRECHT | The Spirit of Bavaria | Wed Apr 26 1995 23:36 | 9 |
| Hello Bob,
you're right. ;) ;) ;) That was a nit.
My picturesque booklet says that, too. ;)
One question: a "nit" is a bug, right? An error, a mistake, right?

That's right. And a nit-picker is someone who finds nits.

334.6 | Report on my first Kid's show | LJSRV1::LAMBRECHT | The Spirit of Bavaria | Thu Apr 27 1995 17:02 | 34 |
| Today is our "Bring your child to work" day. So I thought, well
sounds like I'll have a nice quiet day in the lab, because you
only get in there with NCS badge. ;)
Well,,, yesterday I turned out to host the video conference with Germany.
Mean: getting the honour of serving as a host for 2 hords of kids
in a video conference with our partner group in Karlsruhe. ;)
So I was very busy in getting a concept on how to entertain kids....
with my "long year experience" as a kid...... ;)
I organized a globe and came dressed up: like a Bavarian princess
with a festive brocade Dirndl with golden laces. white lace blouse,
and an aprun that shines green and red depending on the light's angle.
We did a real show. And I think I got the audience going. Unfortunate
ly we did not get the video connection to work, so we did it by
audio. I got the kids to say "Guten Morgen" in a loud chorus and
showed them the distance between Germany and the US on the globe.
It was fun. I had 2 groups of kids. In the first group I made the
mistake to follow the script that the US people here had set up.
And let the German site talk about what they do for Digital. That
was of no interest for the kids. They were bored. But then when I
followed my own concept again, we had fun. The second group was
younger and I really got them going. They posed questions and we
imaginarily visited the zoo in Karlsruhe. ;)
It was exciting. They asked about all kinds of animals and Kirsten
(in Germany) and I just had to say: "yes, we have that, too".
Sometimes I just said: what animal is that? And the kids explained
to me with hand and feet.
A real show!
And now I can get the rest of my work done, today......
looking like a Bavarian Princess. ;)

your words are so lovely, a rose's scent appears fad beside them.
I'm still here, but gone sone, out in the sun on this beautiful
summer day. Enjoy your evening my dear and let the moonlight
fairy touch you softly with her silver wings. She'll send you
tender sweet dreams about love and devotion.
Good night,

| Hello dear BenJ,
oops, I sometimes drive "crazy" for US style, but I certainly
did not at all at any time or any second intend to drive YOU
crazy..... because...
I think you're already are. ;)))))
And nothing can make you worse anymore.
I really think we 2 represent a "slightly braintwisted" minority
in here with our poetic obsession. Or.... from a poets
perspective.... maybe the only "normal" people in here at all.
;)))))))))
;)
Martina-Data intriguingly normal

| re -1
U probably know me better than everyone else here, because of your
sensibility. well, I'm crazy, I'm not normal, and I hope I won't be normal one
day. I feel OK when I can free my mind and write all the things which cross my
poetic spirit. It's not easy cause "so many things, so litle time..."
Well, I don't know if there's a BenJ style, but I love more and more
Twix one!
Yours intriguingly, BenJ. ;)

334.18 | Sometimes it is time to break free | LJSRV1::LAMBRECHT | Two thumbs up for Hu(wo)manity | Thu Jul 06 1995 20:16 | 18 |
| I was told to be "normal" my whole life. I lived it to the extent to
even getting married and having "normal" plans for my life. I then decided
that this is not the way I am, nor ever was and .....
broke free.
Free spirits, free souls, that's what we are. Minds to miraculously run
free, without the "gravitational impact" of "normal" limits,
because.... there are none. Once you discover how it is to fly, you'll
never voluntarily like to fold your wings tightly and live your life
on the ground again. I'm a much happier person since I am just and only
me and don't try to fit into any "normal" characteristics again.
My mom - and I'm quite sure a lot of other people, too..... ;) -
may call me "crazy", but for me it is just an indication of
acknowledgement of my "being different".
Here I somehow represent the "exotic flair".
;)

334.19 | Europe trip plans | LJSRV1::LAMBRECHT | Little Princess - Rainbow Fairy | Wed Jul 19 1995 14:41 | 22 |
| Now I am planning an exciting adventure: my trip to Europe.
Right now I am in a process of booking flights.
It looks right now as if I will be
- starting out in Frankfurt/Germany
and visit my ex-husband. Then it is his turn to do tourist guide.
- then he'll drive me up north to my Mom. I will visit my ex-inlaws
and relax about 1 week at home.
- London! I will visit the great city for 3 days.
- Then I'll go back home, borrow my mom's car and... go touring. ;)
Bavaria, Austria, perhaps Switzerland.
- Then back to North Germany. And then.....
yes! I'll visit Paris. I'm still thinking how to do that. I'll
either go down there by car or I'll just fly from Hannover.
La grande cit d'amour..... moi ... et ..... un monsieur trs
gentil.... ;)
(The great city of love.... me .... and .... a guy very friendly)
Let's see.
That's it for now. Meetings for today start and I gotta run.
;)
