Well, I spent the weeks before christmas at home
with a broken arm, but Christmas itself was
absolutely wonderfull!!!!!! Then I spent NewYears
with the stomache virus that the kids had the week
before, but it wasn't too bad. Stayed in, went to
bed at 9:00, and got woken up at midnight, 1:15, 2:00,
and 3:12 (All AM) by people calling to say 'Happy NewYear'.
But I really didn't mind. Actually, it was a nice feeling that
we have friends that think of us on happy occasions.
And....now I'm back...not totally....The arm is still giving me
a bit of trouble, but nothing a little physical therapy can't
handle, and I'm staying possative.
Well, I hope everyone here had an absolutely wonderful holiday,
and best wishes to all for a bang up 1995!!!!
Love you all!

| I went to the first annual twin city first night in Fitchburg. I went
very early, when it first started, and only stayed until about 5:00
p.m. Shane and I walked, so we were both tired. I stayed home New
Year's eve and talked to some friends on the phone until mid-night. We
said "Happy New Year" to each other and then I hung up and went to
sleep. Pretty boring!

MANY years (Hey Chico, think YOU feel old... 8^)
Chris, Yes, Dick Clark's Rockin' new years Eve was on... They only seem to have
it one a year, though and they leave it to the last minute... 8^)

| For the "St Sylvestre", I was in Paris. The December 31th had begun
really badly, because of my teeth... Nothing was prepared for the nite and I
thought I would stay ar home alone, cause I was sad with a very dark feeling.
My cousin Guenolee, gav me a call praying me to come with my brother.
She was alone too but she wanted to have a good dinner, even if we would be
only... three...
So, we came. I thought I would just eat there to be back home soon for
sleeping. We bought few things for dinner : huitres, saumon, toasts, and of
course Champagne...
Dinner was very good. We drunk a litle too much, making me forget my
teeth, and the pain I had not to be able to see my friends this nite... Time was
turning, it was about 11:45 when we decided to go out in the street of Paris. We
were very happy ( because of alcohol's effect of course). We opened the last
Champagne bottle under the Eifel tower with many, many tourists who were there
for the same reasons: It was Midnight, 1994 was over, all the problems should be
forgotten even if it should be just for one night, people became friends, 1995
was begining with hopes and wishes...
Second part of this night coming soon, this afternoon...
I'm hungry, BenJ. ;)

275.11 | ... New year's day story... to be continued | ANNECY::BALAS_B | Someone, somewhere, somehow, and me... | Tue May 02 1995 16:16 | 38 |
| We were there, under the Eifel tower, wishing with Champagne a very
happy new year to every people we met...
I met a litle group. There were two girls smiling. I asked her where
they came from, and they replied they came from Poland. I wasn't really shocked
because most of the tourists in Paris were coming from East Europa at this
time... In fact there was a Christian meeting in Paris.
They were here just for a week. They asked me how to go to the "Champs
Elysee" and I replied I could show them if they would follow me... I lost my
brother and my cousin because of the number of people in Trocadero Esplanade.
So, I decided to stay with my new friends.
One of the two girls was called Agnieszka (Agnes), and she was allways
happy even if she couldn't anderstand everything that I said. We met a lot of
other polonese groups crossing the Champs Elysee. I remember the time we spended
to take ONE picture of the group (At this time we were about 30!). I was still
drinking, "polonese champagne" as they said. It was awfull as a champagne, but
very good when U're thursty at this hour of the nite (3:00). We walked along the
Champs Elysee from the Concorde to the Louvre via the Tuileries garden. I can't
give U an idea about the number of kilometers we walked. Furthermore, alcohol
made us turn and walk two times more...
Finally, we reached Notre Dame cathedral, in the meddle of the "cit"
island. We were all tired. I decided to invite my new friends in a bar to drink
one last beer before separating us. Agnes was exhausted, she was sleeping in my
side. I could feel her heartbeats. I was happy to live...
Then came time for good bye, time that I remember cause I was about to
shout. I couldn't let them go away before knowing them more. Agnes was in my
arms, her tears were falling down on my shoulders. I couldn't talk anymore,
there were no words to add...
Agnes gave me her address, and sooner came the train they were waiting
for. The day after they were back to Poland, so far from me... Now we keep in
tuch with letters, but it's not the same... I miss her...
Here is what happened in just one night, this night I will remember
maybe all my life. I'm waiting for a reply from her, and my brother just told me
I had received a letter from poland in Paris. I can't wait for it here in
Annecy... I'll tell U more when I'll be able to read it...
If U've got something interresting to write about one New year's day...
Life's sweety... BenJ. ;)
