    	Oh, Holly.... how sad....  this is one fear that I had with my
    	own daughter when she was in the 2nd grade and she had to walk to
    	school and home as well and she had to go by the not so well taken
    	care of parts of town too...
    
    	I know how *I'D* feel if this were to happen to her then OR now..
    	(5th floor of Worcester State for sure) so I can feel for these
    	people as well..

Yeah, I've always worried about this as well. We've had two national incidents
in my (southbridge/sturbridge) area within the last year. one worked out, one
didn't. The Holly fund will be officially announced 8/5 (the anniversary of her
disappearance) to support families in their efforts.

My kids always wonder why we ream them out when they take off without letting us
know their plans...

	Another note to bring tears to my eyes...how dreadful for Kali and

Our area is so sensitive about this subject, there's already posters up at
the post office and banks and minimarts...

    As of this morning, there is still no sign of Kali, or her big-wheel. 
    There is now a $25K reward for information leading to Kali's safe
    return.  There is also an 800 number set up for anyone to call if they
    know anything, or have possibly seen her.
    
    The number is 1-800-810-KALI.
    
    I visited Kali's mother yesterday, and she is holding up remarkably
    well under the circumstances.  She is not giving up hope, yet added
    that it hasn't really hit her yet, because she's expecting Kali to be
    returned "any minute."
    
    She was an incredible amount of support from her family and friends and
    the community.
    
    I will repeat that Judy and Kali's father, Dave, are supposed to be on
    American Journal tonight, and America' Most Wanted this Saturday. 
    Current Affair will also be airing a segment, but I don't know when
    that is yet.
    
    There are over 400K posters out now.  The Adam Walsh Center distributed
    them nationally yesterday.
    
    To those that have asked for fliers, I put them in the mail yesterday.
    
    And thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.  Please keep them
    coming.

    for my town and surrounding ones.
    
    	This kind of thing hits so close to home it frightens me. I'd like
    to get ahold off the animal(s) that took little Kali...there wouldn't
    be much left of them when I was done. Nothing sets my blood boiling
    like someone hurting an innocent child (and abducting them is hurting
    them in my book!).

    This is such a sick world we live in...where little children, the
    most vulnerable of us all can be abducted just like that...nobody
    sees it happening...nobody pays attention...and a little girl

    	I've given copies of the poster for Kali to a friend at the
    registry in Worcester MA (she'll get them out to the cops she works
    with too!), to Anna Maria College and to a local business. More will be
    going to out as time allows....

    Have we heard anything recently?  We have posters up here in California
    all over for her, but I haven't heard anything to date?  Has anyone

    I don't think that there is any news yet.  I recently saw her story on
    "America's Most Wanted".  What a beautiful little girl!  There are some
    real sickies out in the world.  Hopefully she's not harmed at all, and
    some sickie kidnapped her just because she's so beautiful and wanted a
    little girl.  Crazy people!

    I'm sorry for not getting in here to let you all know.  It's been a
    little nuts.
    
    There is no update on Kali.  It was a month yesterday since she's been
    missing.  
    
    We are all still very hopeful.  Kali's mother has been in contact with
    Polly Klass (sp?) father.  He flew out here to meet with Judy.  He was
    very, very supportive.  He encouraged Judy to break her silence and
    talk to the media.  This is something Judy wasn't ready to do because 
    she felt the more she talked about her daughter, the more she was
    giving her up.  But she's been in the news more and more and it's
    turned out to be very therapeutic for her.
    
     We are in the process of setting up a Kali Poulton Foundation to
    assist the Adam Walsh Center in getting Kali's picture out more
    nationally.  We are aiming to hit every hotel/motel, gas station,
    convenience store, etc in the US, Canada and Mexico.  Over 1M fliers
    have been distributed in the US and 8 other countries.
    
    Over 9000 "tips" have been called in, but there are still no strong
    leads.  The calls are still coming in on a daily basis.
    
    And you're right, she is a very, very beautiful little girl, which is
    to her disadvantage.  And there are alot of sick people out there.

    There is no update to report.  Kali is still missing.  Her mother is
    working with a psychic who is connected to the show America's Most
    Wanted.  The psychic feels Kali is alive, not being harmed, but is very
    angry.
    
    Judy, Kali's mother, remembered Kali's birthday a few weeks back by
    planting a tree on the grounds of the hospital where Kali was born. 
    That was tough, to say the least.
    
    There are no new leads coming in, however, the detectives are still
    actively working on the case.
    
    I wish I had better news to report, but unfortunately, I do not.
    
    Thank you for asking, and keeping Kali and her family in your thoughts

Former neighbor confesses to strangling girl missing since 1994

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Aug 10, 1996 1:41 p.m. EDT) -- A former neighbor confessed
to abducting and strangling a 4-year-old girl who vanished more than two
years ago while riding her Big Wheel on a quiet suburban sidewalk,
authorities said.

Hours after security guard Mark Christie was charged with second-degree
murder Friday night, police found a body early today thought to be the
remains of Kali Poulton.

Christie, 24, who lived with his infant son not far from Kali's home in a
secluded subdivision in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, confessed to the
crime, police said.

Kali's disappearance in May 1994 mystified police and prompted a nationwide
search. At the time, authorities said all 300 residents in the housing
estate were interviewed at least once but no suspects were identified.

Monroe County Sheriff Andrew Meloni said a tip led to Friday's arrest of
Christie, who had since moved to a small town east of Rochester. He said
Christie confessed to abducting and killing the girl and told police where
he disposed of the body.

Police said they found a body when they emptied a water tank in a Northern
Telecommunications building on Rochester's east side where Christie worked.
An autopsy was to be performed today.

Christie was arraigned Friday night in Pittsford Town Court and was being
held in the Monroe County Jail.

Kali's mother, Judy Gifford, said she remembered talking casually to
Christie at a local playground in the months before Kali disappeared and
becoming suspicious when he made admiring comments about her daughter. Kali
used to help Christie's 18-month-old son on the slide, she said.

"He would say, 'Your daughter's a very precious little girl' and I'd say
'Thank you.' We were accustomed to hearing that.

"But then he'd make comments like, 'I look at all the little girls out here
and your daughter is far the prettiest.' That made me feel uncomfortable and
when I'd see him outside (again), I'd not be near him.

"Here was a man in his 20s admiring a 4-year-old child. That's not right."

It was around dinnertime on May 23, 1994, when Kali got her pink-and-white
Big Wheel out of the shed. She rode back and forth on the sidewalk, her
mother glimpsing her periodically through the window. When Gifford came out
a few minutes later, Kali and her tricycle had vanished.

Gifford, 32, has passed out posters at toll booths and county fairs,
consulted psychics, appeared on talk shows, persuaded airlines to stuff
Kali's picture in ticket jackets and pediatricians to keep missing children
albums.

All over metropolitan Rochester on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, the
photo of the little girl with dimples and waist-length blond hair was
displayed on car windows, office walls and storefronts.

Every year in America, an estimated 300 children are kidnapped by strangers.
As many as half of them are killed.

"This certainly comes as a shock," Gifford said. "I always felt that she was
alive and I was going to find her and bring her home.

Sobbing in her doorway next to her former husband, David Poulton, she added:
"We are totally devastated, in shock, as totally blindsided by this as we
were the day she disappeared."
