People,

	It's occurred to me that the regular noters in here might like to 
record their own video tapes using camcorder/VCR facilities and then 
circulate them - to those who are interested. 

I work in VHS and PAL, but I also have a Beta VCR (PAL) and I am able to 
play USA-type NTSC VHS tapes. (I also have a "long play" facility, but to 
improve compatibility, my tapes would be recorded on "short play".)

	Let me get the ball rolling..

Over the weekend, I made a 4-hour videotape DC001 which includes:

1. "The Last Husky".. an Australian Broadcasting Corporation production 
   which tells the story of how the entire husky team at Australia's 
   "Mawson" base in Antarctica was resettled to a new life in Minnesota, 
   USA. (approx 1hr.)

2. LaToya Jackson interview by Ray Martin of Australia's "A Current 
   Affair". (This is the interview where LaToya lost it in a BIG way!)

3. Home video of the Casey family in Queensland, January, 1994. This 
   includes loads of beaches, koalas, kangaroos, lorrikeets, plus the 
   drive into Brisbane, and shots of the Glasshouse Mountains.

4. Jack Benny - a profile of this great comedian from days gone by.

               
If you would like to borrow the above VHS-PAL tape, all you have to do is 
send me a mail, mentioning that you wish to borrow Number DC001, also 
including your address for postage purposes. 

(Please .. no Digital Mail Stops .. only REAL addresses.) 

I'll then add you to the DC001 Waiting List as per the next reply. It 
will be the responsibility of the original recipient to pass or post the 
tape via real mail at their cost on to the 2nd user to 3rd user, etc. 
etc.  I will happily send the tape to the first person on the Waiting 
List.

If you would like to add a video tape of your own to this circulation 
scheme, please mail me details of what you have available and I'll add 
them to pool.

                              WORLD TV STANDARDS


Are you interested in swapping home videos with people in other lands? If so, 
you'll need to know whether other countries use the same recording standard as 
your country does - even though ALL countries use VHS size cassettes. There 
are commonly THREE recording standards: -

	PAL   ..within which there are various editions, all of which are               
                compatible though ....used extensively throughout the UK and
	        Western Europe.

	NTSC  ..used extensively throughout the Americas and USA trust 	      
                territories.
 
	SECAM ..used extensively throughout Eastern Europe and the Middle 
	        East.
