WORLD TV STANDARDS
Are you interested in swapping home videos with people in other lands? If so,
you'll need to know whether other countries use the same recording standard as
your country does - even though ALL countries use VHS size cassettes. There
are commonly THREE recording standards: -
PAL ..within which there are various editions, all of which are
compatible though ....used extensively throughout the UK and
Western Europe.
NTSC ..used extensively throughout the Americas and USA trust
territories.
SECAM ..used extensively throughout Eastern Europe and the Middle
East.

You might be interested to know that I've had quite an enjoyable
evening here watching the 1989 Boston Marathon on NTSC video ...picture
courtesy of WBZ-TV Channel 4.
I especially love that Miller Lite commercial where the bloke lassoos
the semi-trailer! hehehe..
