    	Yes the Raiders lost MaCallum and the game, but the Niners lost
    both starting linemen on the right side.  It may not have been worth
    the win after all, esp when you consider the Niners scoring 21 points
    after the Raiders pulled Hos.  Should provide just the incentive needed
    in the bowl.
    
    	And yes the Niners will handle the self proclaimed, self centered, self
    serving, Cowbells.  If I ever hear another loser quote "America's Team"
    again I think I'd ralf.  To top that, the three people reading over my
    shoulder all are shouting, YES!  Can you take it, I don't think so.  
    
    	Well now that I've gotten that out I feel much better now.  Let's
    see who do I have more than the Bells of Texas, the enver Broncos of
    course.  What the Pick of the Week?  Give the 3 and take the Jets. 
    Why?  Because theirs no D in Denver!
      

    The cowbells(as you call them),and they *ARE* America's team whether
    you like it or not, haven't lost to the overrated niners since the
    infamous "catch"(1981?) in which mighty Joe was really throwing the ball out
    of bounds but couldn't cause he doesn't have the cojones to throw that
    far. Clark simply got in the way of the ball :-)   And besides, the
    cowbells had Danny White. Thats enough to handicap any team. Not to
    worry, the Niners have Steve who is White's equivalent in
    championship games. 
    
    Besides, I was hoping the Faids would beat the Niners but it didn't
    happen. 

    	Is anyone out there?  Does anyone really care?  Let's test this
    theory.  If you think The Cowbell's are America's Team then vote YES,
    and say why.  If you think the Cowbell are about as obnoxious a team as
    they come, then vote NO.  For the entertainment the rest of America,

    	Well after the first day of the ballot it seems nobody has ever
    heard of a reason why the Cowbells, (mental condition of the Cowboys, 
    DINGY!), think they are America's Team.  More-over, that's also the 
    reason for the Star on the helmet, sooooooo dingyyyyyyy their see'en

	Whether they are Gods team, America's team or the Cowbells,
    Cowpies,Cowgirls, one thing is for sure. They are 
    
    Superbowl Champs two years running, Something even you cannot deny.
    
    So if they were DINGY you had better hope they are no longer DINGY or
    you are going to be bitterly disappointed and seeing STARS once again

    If we could get a Quarterback on the Broncos we might have a chance,
    but while we have Elway, chances of having a real team are slim and
    none, we need someone who has talent to match their ego.

    	Their is no denying the fact that they have won two Superbowls in a 
    row.  However their is also no denying that they are obnoxious,
    self centered, self serving, and dingy.  Cut the Cr*p.  Give me one
    reason why they are America's Team.  Many teams have won more games,
    more Superbowls, scored more points, etc...  They claimed to be what
    they were, Champions.  The Cowbells claim to be what they are not! 
    This self dilution diminishes their credibility and raises serious
    questions about their mental state.  Hence the slogan, (Cowboys,
    America's Dingiest Team!)
    
    	Now for the news, on the talk radio show, (One on One Sports), I
    heard that Hos had taken a serious blow to his shoulder from Trapp
    during practice.  This is the reason that the Raiders did not throw a
    single long pass during the 49er game.  This also explains why he threw
    three interceptions the following week against San Diego, (completely
    out of character for him).  The report continued by saying he should be
    his old self by Sunday.  Therefore take the four and the Raiders to
    beat the Broncos in enver.

    You are wrong my friend. No one has won more Superbowls. No one has
    been to more Superbowls.  4 is the most anyone has won and 4 is the
    most anyone has lost. 7 is the most any one team has been there and
    guess who they are. As far as scoring more points well only Leon Lett
    kept them from taking that record. More folks buy Cowboys merchandise
    than any other team and I am talking about the world not just the U.S.
    Even when they were losing all their games they were still in the top
    5. Now they are numero Uno and I know you know what that means. So
    maybe they should be called "The Worlds Team."  :-)

    When was the last time you heard a Cowboy make the claim that they were
    America's team?  Usually it is the media who brings that up and not the
    players and it never fails to get you anti Dallas fans all riled up.
    Why? It is just a name and has nothing to do with what they do on the
    field. Thats where the game is played and you must admit that they
    have been doing well the last couple of years.

    As far as being called Americas team, well that was bestowed on them by
    NFL Films back in the early 70's I believe when NFL Films made a film
    about the Cowboys after they had won their first Superbowl and titled
    the film "America's Team". So ifin you want to get on somebodies case
    about that name I suggest you give a call to NFL Films and ask them why
    the decided to name a Film about the Cowboys "America's Team." 
              
    I might add that this is the ::FRIENDS conference and not the ::SPORTS
    or ::AMERICAN_FOOTBALL Conference so lets be nice here.

    This string is getting to be boring and a bit onsided...
    
    afterall who else but the noter who brought up the subject refers to
    the Dallas Cowboys as the "Cowbells"?  Lighten up or go to the soapbox.
    
    In here we are FRIENDS like Ben said, we do not need or want
    controversy.  There is enough stress on the job without adding to what
    everyone has.  I like the Cowboys, you do not.  Fair enough, let the 
    thing drop, OKAY!

    Stress on the job I won't have to worry about come Nov 18th, but until

    Nope.

    Besides, if you let what I claim bother you then you are the one with
    the problemo. Whatever I may claim or whatever you may claim are quite 
    simply   opinions. Whether they are agreed upon is up the each
    individual. The term 'America's Team' was NFL Films opinion at the time
    the film was made and the term stuck. Whether you agree with it or not
    is your choice, and we all know you do not  :-) However we Dallas fans
    know it sticks in your craw everytime it's brought up.

    Well let's not restrict our converstion to just the AFC, let's discuss
    the NFC.  Well, to be more exact, let's discuss the Cowbells,
    er-um-boys.  I know how that set's you off, let's not have another out
    break of----they are, they are, THEY ARE SO!  
    
    Ok first the math, 4=4.  This is a very simple concept.  The same
    number equals the same number.  San Francisco and Pittsburg have 
    four Superbowl wins.  
    
    Another concept--- loses count against you.
    4-3 means slightly better than a .500 mark.
    
    The number of time's for a Superbowl showing is nice, but not the
    same as the number of times you are Champion.
    
    Most Sales:  The Oakland/Los Angles Raiders have generated the most
    income to the NFL Porperties since the early 1970's.  The normal
    statistic for a neutral city is; the home team and the current
    Superbowl winner switch for the one two spots and the Raiders sell
    third.  When added up across the country they generate the most sales
    over all.  
    
    Last but not least, Johnson is gone.  The Denver Broncos are finding
    out right now just how important Dan R. was to their team.  The
    Cowboys struggled against two mediocre teams and lost to a third. 
    I'll admit that the salary cap took away some depth, and Jones
    selections in the draft were average.  Jones also mandated that just
    about everything Johnson had done before he left remain the same, ie...
    the hiring of Zampezee etc...  
    
    I know every team goes up and down from week to week and over the last
    two years the Cowboys have been a power-house.  However, I also think
    the above mentioned circumstances and the lack of change Jimmy would
    have injected could produce the end for the Boys.
    
    I still think the Niners will take the NFC, and they lost three first
    string offensive linemen and Young still isn't Montana, etc...  The 
    reason I most think they will prevail is, they DIDN'T stand pat.  How 
    they got Deion, God only knows.  I don't expect him to make a great 
    difference right away, but down the road watch-out!  He's a dangerous man 
    on both sides of the ball. 
    
    Now I hope I've given you some down to earth analysis of the NFC.  I
    was providing the same type of analysis for a few other games.  What I'm
    hoping is some insite's you might have on tuff game's coming up, after
    all anyone can pick the easy-one's. 
               

     Not that easy to pick the easy ones. When Washington was the best team
    and undefeated they lost to a Dallas team that hadn't won a game. Last
    Last year Dallas went into Atlanta and was supposed to win but got
    trounced. The following week they choked against Miami.Both games they
    were supposed to win.  
    
    Most everyone was writing them off to defend the championship and were 
    again picking SF to take it all.Frisco had the #1 offense, easier schedule 
    in the last few games but lost their last two of three to teams they were 
    supposed to beat!  See, not that easy. But then they destroyed  the
    Giants, a team that Dallas struggled against to win the NFCeast crown
    only a week before. Ricky Watters had 5 TD's and again SF was picked to
    go into Dallas and mutilate the Cowboys. I don't have to tell you the
    rest.

    Well what's your pick of the week?  Only a couple left for us at CX02.
    
    San Francisco over New Orleans, Kansas City over LA Rams, Houston over
    Cincinnati,--- to easy.  No last year San Diego won in LA late in the
    game with an interception returned for a touch down.  This year the
    Raider's backs are to the wall and it's pay back time. So give the 3.5 
    and take the Raiders at home.

    Raiders lose in last seconds to SanDiego. Montana gets skunked. 
    New Orleans plays the niners tough until that intercept by Dion. It
    ain't so easy is it. Like they say, on any given Sunday.....

    Well where's your picks?  There are alway a few games favored by 10 or
    more.  You could choose one of those if you want to be safe.

    I am not into 'picks.' There is only one team I care to see win. I they
    win, they win, if they lose, they lose. End of story. No guessing games
    for me. This way I gain no money but I lose none either.

     I don't believe in spreads and think that picks with anyone should be
    straight up if you are into that kind of thing. However, I think it's 
    really weak to win even if the team a person picks loses the game but 
    covers the spread. WEAK!

    Well I haven't been in this file for a long long time. Figured I'd pop
    in now and then to see what going on? I don't know most of you and you
    probably don't know me (just a few). I wanted to post this for you all.
    
    Just to let you know I'm a huge huge hockey fan (ask chico) and if any

   The idea came to Normand Leveille as soon as the letter arrived in Laval, 
Quebec, three months ago. ``As soon as the letter from the Bruins came,'' 
said Lucie Lagare, ``Normand said he wanted to come to Boston Garden and he 
wanted to skate.
   ``When I read the letter to him, I said, `Are you going to bring your 
skates with you to Boston?' And Normand said, `Oh, yes.' ''
   Lucie Lagare knows Normand Leveille as well as anyone. They met in a 
Quebec rehabilitation center two years ago, both recovering from cerebral 
hemorrhages. ``I had the same thing happen to my brain that happened to 
Normand's,'' said Lagare, ``but it happened to me on my right side of my 
brain and to Normand on his left. So I know . . . but when Normand told me he 
wanted to skate . . . I didn't know.''
   There had been one try at the empty Forum in Montreal eight years ago 
when Leveille thought he still was going to be a hockey player again, still 
was going to wear the No. 19 for the Boston Bruins again, ``but it was rough, 
Normand told me,'' said Lagare. ``It had not gone well.''
   It is just one month short of 13 years ago that Leveille, an heir 
apparent to Johnny Bucyk at left wing for the Bruins, was checked into the 
boards in Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum by the Canucks' Marc Crawford. Between 
periods, Leveille's face grew flaccid and he had difficulty speaking and his 
life was in danger. Doctors eventually diagnosed an arteriovenous malfunction 
_ a brain hemorrhage _ as the cause for Leveille's collapse, not any hits 
from playing hockey. His life was saved, but his career _ and a normal life _ 
were over.
   Year followed year of rehabilitation. But Leveille ``still has his No. 19 
Bruins sweater at home,'' said Lagare, ``and he'd say how he wanted to wear 
it again at Boston Garden . . . and wear it skating.''
   Those who were at Boston Garden on the Garden's last night will never 
forget the sight. Bobby Orr cried tears at his ovation, and as Mark Santos of 
Raynham put it, ``I've seen Larry Bird night, I've seen the Celtics win 
championships and I've seen everything there is to see at Boston Garden, but 
I've never seen emotion like this.''
   ``We had trouble finding skates [yesterday] for Normand,'' said Lagare. 
``There was one pair and then there was another pair, but they would not fit. 
Finally, we got a pair from the Bruins locker room.''
   The Bruins were introduced to the crowd in alphabetical order after the 
exhibition game against the Canadiens. Roar followed roar. And then, as 
Leveille walked to the dasher with the aid of a cane, ``Normand Leveille'' 
was announced to the crowd and Raymond Bourque took the cane from his hand, 
held it out in front of Leveille for support, and . . . No. 19 was back on 
the ice.
   The smile, the widest smile a human can smile, told all, but Lagare 
translated a few words by Leveille from French to English. ``He said on the 
ice he felt lighter,'' she said.
   Emotion flowed throughout the Garden, so raw it could be felt.
   Leveille sat in a small wooden chair at mid-ice, his smile holding firm 
and wide. As the Bruins from later in the alphabet were announced, the Johnny 
McKenzies and the Jean Ratelles and  Milt Schmidts and Eddie Westfalls and 
all of them, Leveille would clap with his left hand, clapping his left thigh, 
clapping like everyone in Boston Garden for the last game.
   Then, as Rene Rancourt sang ``Auld Lang Syne'' and as the Bruins took 
their final skate around the Garden, Normand Leville insisted on joining his 
teammates. Terry O'Reilly skated over to give Leveille one arm and Bourque 
once again held the cane out in front of Leveille and Leveille slowly _ but 
very surely _ skated one last time around the Garden ice. By skate's end, 
virtually all the Bruins had surrounded Leveille, the emotion too strong to 
ignore.
   A few minutes later, Leveille sat on the same little wooden chair outside 
the visitors' locker room and the skates were removed. The smiles were wider 
than ever as Bruin after Bruin kidded with him _ ``You haven't got your 
speed yet, but you got around the point pretty well,'' kidded Gerry Cheevers 
_ and Leveille's smile was wider than ever.
   Lagare was asked to ask Leveille how his emotions survived the emotional 
night. ``He says there are no words to describe his feelings,'' she 
translated. ``He said he was so happy at the support of the players and the 
support from the fans.''
   Leveille and Lagare intend to open a rehabilitation center for children 
soon, ``and it is both our ideas,'' she said. And if the new center ever 
needs an example of what the human spirit can accomplish, one need only 
produce the tape of Normand Leveille skating on Boston Garden's last night _ 
13 years after he collapsed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
