| Good for you!!!!
I've been trained in CPR and First aid. Every year I take a half day
class to brush up on CPR. I'm also a member of the MERT (Medical
Emergency Response Team) here in Maynard and we have meetings every few
months or so. I've never had to use my knowledge, but I feel pretty
confident that I could help if needed.

| I remember years ago I walked out in my back yard to talk to my father,
who was on the porch swing. I said "How's it going?" and he replied.
"Well, I just gave the little girl next door artificial respiration."
I ran over and looked over the wall, and a team of paramedics were
standing around talking to some parents next to their pool. The next
day an article appeared in the paper, detailing the heroics of my
father. Apparently, he was sitting in the back yard, listening to the
playing and laughter coming from around our neighbor's pool. Then the
laughter turned to screaming. The 3 year old daughter had ridden her
tricycle into the pool while the mother had stepped inside for a
moment. The mother came out and found the daughter on on the bottom.
She dived in, pulled the girl out, tried to administer CPR, but had
never been trained. Then she started screaming. My father heard,
leaped over the fence, administered CPR, and the girl started breathing
again. The paramedics arrived 5 minutes later and said that my fathers
action had saved the girl from permanent injury or death.
We got a kick out of the article in the paper saying my father 'leaped'
over the wall. Kind of like superman or something.
It's a story I love to tell, especially since my father has always been
to nonchalant about his herioc act. The little girl is now 24.

a week ago and explained the term Brown Nosing to me. ;)
So, is this life saving manoever really about actions on people's
bottom part?

No, that was really a joke, a take-off on the word "Heimlich"! What this
actually means is giving abdominal thrusts to a person that is choking as a
result of having a foreign object (like a FRENCH fry) stuck in their throat.
The thrusting forces air through the lungs and up the airway, hopefully
forcing the object to be propelled out of the persons mouth. It really is
a life saver.
