What's a nimrod? Does it have different meanings
in different parts of the world? Does it have
any meaning at all in your part of the world?
And what about Dipstick? I know it has a 'car'
meaning, but how did it get to be a slang word?
Inquiring minds, and all that.....

I don't know about dipstick, but I assume it's the dumbest form of oil
gauge ..or something..

Nimrod was a hunter in the bible.
(sorry, do not remember what or when he hunted).
I guess the people who gave that name to the fighter plane knew Hebrew.
Over here, in Israel, Nimrod is very popular name. I know some people who
won't be happy to hear that nimrod is slang for 'a really dumb person'.

Maybe you can console them with the fact that in the American Heritage
Dictionary, nimrod is "A hunter".
