A few questions on B* Open and operating systems version compatibilites: - Does B* Open Server V3.0 run under OpenVMS V7.1 (Alpha)? (SPD says only V6.1 and V6.2) - Does B* Open Server V3.0 run with TCP/IP services for OpenVMS V4.1? (SPD says only V3.1) - Does B* Open Client V3.0 run under Windows95? (SPD says only WNT and Windows 3.1x) (OR is the answer to all of the above = "B* Open V3.1"?) Best regards Bengt Sderlind, NSIS Stockholm

1- No. 2- V3.0 was tested with UCX up to V4.0. V3.1 is currently being run on UCX V4.1 with VMS V7.1. Quite frankly, in our experience UCX has always been the less screwy product in moving to one version to another. 3- No. Windows 95 is not just a new version of an operating system: it is really a new operating system. The client for WNT/W95 (this is physically the same image) is available for field test (see topic 3), while the VMS kits will be ready in few days (keep an eye open on topic 3). Claudio

Thanks for the reply! Here some additional questions: 1) Will B* Open Server V3.1 run under OpenVMS V6.2 (Alpha)? 2) Will it be possible to upgrade B* Open Server on OpenVMS from V2.0 directly to V3.1, or is it necessary to go via V3.0? 3) Can we say anything about when B* Open V3.1 might be available in a production release? (both WNT/W95 Client and OpenVMS Server) Thanks in advance, Bengt Sderlind

1) Yes 2) The migration can be direct 3) Our target is the Q2CY97 CDROM for the server. The client is not on a corporate CDROM, and will be synchronized with the servers. |
