Hi, I wonder what the *.FDB_* files are for in the device:[BSTROVA020.WORK.REALM.realm-name.FDB] -directory (I know that FDB stands for "Fast Database Component") but WHEN/HOW/WHY are they used? All of them are filled with 1kB of NULL-bytes........??? We have a lot of these files (3000+) and I wonder when I can delete them. Is the fact that we have so many of them a reason for the long time it takes to start the actor-tree? regards, Nils Berggren

Hello, FDB files are used by B* Servers to keep their volatile data base (VODB). They should be temporary files, that is, they should exist only while the owner process is running. The fact that you have so many files left may be due to either some abnormal temination of B* Servers or to a known problem of B* 2.0 that prevents files' deletion. >> I wonder when I can delete them. Since we're talking about VMS, you can delete them at any time: you'll get errors for those that are currently in use, but the old ones will disapper. >> Is the fact that we have so many of them a reason for the long time >> it takes to start the actor-tree?
