     o R. Mueller-Mellin - Updates for the Ulysses' solar passage:

           Date       Latitude   Remark
           06/27/94 -70.07 begin south polar passage
           09/14/94   -80.22     maximum southern latitude
           11/05/94 -70.29 end south polar passage

     o Peter Bolton, Rainer Kalliany - Spot-3 launch in January 1995 is really
       Spot-4. Spot-3 has already been launched.
     o R. Scot Dunbar - NSCAT is actually an instrument on ADEOS, and the
       launch date is January 1996, which places it off the calendar

Subj:	SPACE1994 Conference at York Uni. in Toronto

July 26, 1994
Department of Communications: York University
4700 Keele St., North York, Ontario, Canada, M3J 1P3

	Join Canada'a Space Community for Conference at York University
Toronto, July 26, 1994: If the cosmic action around Jupiter recently has
whetted your appetite to know more about space, you can take part in a
space conference being held at York University this fall.

Some of Canada's biggest names in space science and astronomy will be
speaking at the SPACE 1994 Conference being held on Oct. 1 and 2 in
Vari Hall.

Anyone interested in astronomy, satellites, and solar sysrtem
exploration is welcome to attend. The conference includes panel
discussions on new developments in space, guest speaker lectures,
booths, displays, and an art show featuring space photography. Tickets
are $15 per person before Aug. 1, and $25 after that date.

The conference is being hosted by the SEDS (Students for the Exploration
and Development of Space), with the participation of the Institute for
Space and Terrestrial Science (ISTS), the Planetary Society, the Royal
Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) and TVOntario.

"The most important aspect of SEDS is that it's one of the most
high-profile space based groups that exists:, says York Astronomy
professor Paul Delaney. "It's not just astronomy, and its not just
space - it's an amalgamation of amateur and professional space
enthusiasts who believe that the exploration of the solar sysem is
something that humanity should collectively become involved in."

A hi-tech satellite link will be used to connect conference guests to
Canadian Astronomer David Levy, the co-discover of the Comet
Shoemaker-Levy 9. Fragments from that comet were colliding with Jupiter
over the past week. Levy will be giving his lecture, and holding a
question-and-answer session from Palomar Observatory in Pasadena, Ca.

Other conference speakers will include:

- Dr. John Caldwell, Director of the Space Astrophysics Laboratory/ISTS
and the only Canadian principal investigator on the Hubble Space
Telescope's original science team;

- Dr. Kieran Carroll, President, The Canadian Space Society (CSS), and
the Manager of Space Projects at Dynacon;

- Bob McDonald, host of CBC Radio's Quirks and Quarks, and Executive
Director of the Algonquin Space Campus;

- Dr. Cindy Cunningham, ISTS Space Astrophysics Lab Scientist and
Project Scientist for the Galileo Space Probe;

-Prof. Paul Delaney, York University Astronomy Professor, and Director
of the York University Observatory;

-Chris Coggon, Campus Director, Algonquin Space Campus.

Organizations which will set up booths or displays include: SEDS Canada;
the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, The Planetary Society,
McLaughlin Planetarium, Canadian Space Society, ISTS, Algonquin Space
Campus, York Astronomy Club, and the York University Observatory.
