There's a new book out that's very good. Recently published by
Houghton Mifflin -- "The Overview Effect: the Next Step in Human
Evolution" by Frank White.
Based on a lot of interview with the astronauts, it really proposes
a whole new approach to the space program and the rationale for
making it the major public enterprise of our era. White started
outside of the "space community" but is apparently very accepted
in it now and respected.
