BECO = Booster Engine Cut Off
SECO = Sustainer Engine Cut Off

(and for Atlas trivia fans, VECO = Vernier Engine Cut Off).

These were terms used mostly for the Atlas, with its stage and half
design. They came back into use on the shuttle as it is also a stage
and half design and I think some of the old hands at the Cape liked
    this kind of stuff.

Is not MECO used on the shuttle for Main Engine Cut Off in place
    of SECO?

Yes, you are right. MECO is the term used for shuttle flights.

I guess I was in an expendable frame of mind.... :-)
