342.0. "The CHALLENGER License Plate" by SARAH::BUEHLER (What have you built lately?) Tue Sep 22 1987 09:41

  Today in the Mill parking lot, I saw a Florida license plate with an image
of a shuttle lifting off with the word "Challenger" at the top of the plate.

342.1A little info ...SSDEVO::FAVATom FavaTue Sep 22 1987 11:5111
	When we were vacationing in Florida last month, we saw these
	license plates on a large percentage of cars. When we visited
	Kennedy Space Center, there was a counter set up where you
	could order one and the sign said something like $15 of the
	price would be contributed toward some kind of Challenger
	memorial. I don't remember now if this is the same astronaut
	memorial being planned for KSC, another structure to be
	located somewhere else in the state, or some general fund
	for scholarships or whatever.

    	Hello,
    		Does anyone know of an address to get more information
    	on ordering the Challenger license plate.

342.3Not a decorative plate...SHAOLN::DENSMOREBut I'm feeling muuuch better now!Thu Nov 02 1989 08:5710
These are official Florida plates, not those decorative plates we in MA
can put on the front of our cars since we only use one plate. They are
a twist on the "vanity plates" we have here in New England (and elsewhere?)
where you get a different plate style instead of specific letters/numbers.
I think you can also get plates for your favorite university, University
of Florida or Florida State for example.

Soooo, unless you register you car in Florida...
